I have only ever worked at two jobs and the time spent at both was nothing alike. Both jobs, though, have taught and gave me experience for how a workplace can be. I doubt I’ll ever have to deal with jobs like those two past employments, because as they differed from each other greatly, they were also not common jobs that someone would think of. My time working as a diesel mechanic and at a Halloween attraction event differed in the type of co-worker I dealt with, the workplace experience I gained, and the work schedule that I followed. To start off with, my co-worker while I was a mechanic was mostly my dad, moreover, since the job ran out of our house, I only went out on jobs with him. The company had other mechanics working in it, but as …show more content…
We would be called by people who needed our services, for example, the company would be sent to work on broken down truck; diesel, semi-trucks, whether the problem that it was broken down was an engine issue or a flat tire, we were able to fix it. In addition to the location, the tools and outfit I used and wore, are a part of the workplace experience I gained. The tools that I used not only gave me more knowledge on how this job worked, but also imbedded me with information on how to properly handle really any mechanical problem I could face with a car. On the work truck, was an air compressor, which powered most of the tools we had to use. While working on a semi-truck, the use of heavy duty power tools, and that was why something as powerful as an air compressor was needed. Mostly every job would require their employees to have some type of dress code or uniform, but while working for this company, what I wore was up to me. I came to figure out that no matter what type of job, time of day, or even time of year, the outfit of an old hoodie and jeans were perfect for my job. I was crawling on the ground for most types of jobs I did so it came useful to protect myself, since I usually worked in gravel
I used to work at my local McDonalds for three years during high school. At first, I thought I was there just to make an extra quick buck to fund my weekend adventures, but later would turn into a key cog at the store as the crew trainer and starting to be prepped for a managerial spot. It was exciting, learning how to place orders for the store, make the work schedule and cycle counts among other things. Soon however, I started to realize how replaceable my coworkers a...
I took up my first job sophomore year of high school and have stuck with it ever since. I currently still work there, Enchanted Beach Weddings. In this job I work labor and I am also one of the head photographers. We set up beautiful weddings on the beach and then I am in charge of directing them and leading the bride, groom and everyone else through the wedding. While I am doing that, I am also taking the wedding photography. It is a super stressful job to have couple’s wedding day experience in your hands and control, but I have never had a bad experience with it and am so priveleged to be a part of such an important day for couples about 75 times each year. On the side of this job, I have always had a fun job to make a little extra money by work...
Working this job for nearly two years, it made me significantly more responsible and taught me many things about being patient. Having to deal with many different things at once, I learned how to balance things and take duties one step at a time and not get overwhelmed. This job was like taking a two year class on how to be responsible and be patient when difficulties are stacking up against you.
Many businesses have begun using a casual dress policy on certain days. Implementing dress-down days may be an effective way to boost employee morale. The question that seems to pop up too often is whether dress-down days are a benefit or burden to the company. Many companies have adopted Friday as a casual or dress-down day, while others have made casual business attire a full-time policy. Some employees view wearing casual business clothing as an employee benefit. To others, it is a disaster. Both men and women are often confused about what "casual" means and about how to dress casually and still look professional. Some people in management positions feel employees goof off on casual dress day. This report will look at all these issues as well as a conclusion about the effectiveness of casual dress days.
My first job was at a grocery store I was excited of meeting new people, making friends, gaining experience, but most importantly was excited to earn my own money. My pay rate was nine ten and pay day was every Friday. The first day I worked was on a Sunday afternoon in which I worked a heavy eight hour shift from eight in the early morning to four in the calm afternoon. It was a very productive day I did many go-backs, the hourly

It takes one person to change the trajectory of another person’s life. During my work experience I dealt with instances where my ethics, empathy, and professionalism guided me when handling patient’s problems. For example, a patient’s, (I will call Tom) MRI results showed a congenital anomaly in his brain. As a result, Tom required a consult with a brain specialist. Unfortunately, Tom recently aged out of the foster care system; and was lacking insurance coverage; the financial means; and supports for medical treatment. To clarify, my task of notifying the patient was completed, but I felt compelled to further aid Tom by securing a brain consult for him. After days of phone calls, I learned Tampa General Hospital provides medical services to the indigent and they agreed to see Tom. For this purpose, I advised Tom to go to Tampa General, nonetheless he was resistant. Next, I persisted by calling Tom every day until he relented by admitting himself to the hospital. A few days later,
Describe and explain how this factor can potentially have a positive influence on workplace relationships
It was my job for two summers, and was a great, exciting first job. One of the aspects that was very neat about it was the fact that I started it once school got out for the summer, and then once school started back up at the end of the summer I stopped working so I could put all my focus into school. I was primary weed eater for my first summer, simply because I was the newest guy on the job and also the youngest. I didn’t enjoy this near as much as I did mowing, but it taught me a lot about what hard work. We mowed a really big trailer park every other week, and I was in charge of weedeating the whole thing. I had to weedeat around all the pipes and poles sticking out of the ground, and although there was a bunch of those I didn’t really mind that part of the job much. However, the part of this that I absolutely hated was that I had to weedeat two or three decent size hills that were too steep to get a mower on. The worst part of this was that it was a job that couldn’t be done in the morning because the steep hills would be too slippery from the dew, so usually I would have to wait until the extreme heat of midday. This was one of the hardest things I had ever done before, and I truly hated it. However, because it was one of the hardest things I have ever done, it taught me what hard work really was. It taught me how to work hard, and showed me the rewards of my hard work through my paycheck
During my work experience at , I was fortunate enough to have experienced firsthand and learned, many different sides of what goes into a project, the general process of how a project is initially planned, developed and completed; as well as how much work and detail goes into every stage. Another valuable lesson I have learned during these 12 weeks, were the many different types of work an Engineer has to perform, which in turn, have provided me with more insight into the different types of roles and responsibilities that I could perform, as a Civil Engineer.
1. Since the solo move to New York in order to provide a better life and financial security for my family, I have to say that work definitely takes up my time. Wanting to be a great provider for me drives me even more to excel at my job in order to become a great employee, get a raise in pay, which will only increase my family’s financial success. I usually spend anywhere between 60 to 80 hours a week at my job. Working overtime keeps me occupied and gives me satisfaction knowing my family is able to enjoy more things in life.
I lived with my father for my entire life, but due to his work I did not spend much time with him. My father worked at a different city; and thus he comes home only a few times a month. My father is a mechanic. He works at a company that is distant from our home. This was due to the company being the only one and the first where cars were being assembled in Ethiopia. Sometimes on the weekends I used to go to his work place. He would give me a trip of the place; the station was filled with vehicles, trucks, and motorcycles. It was separated by sections. In each section there were only one type of vehicle and the assembly process was shown step by step. From a fuse to large engine of the car, components were getting attached.

I have a great experience with my mentor this semester. My mentor is Dr. John Hoeschen, he owns this own independent pharmacy in St Paul, that is the St. Paul Corner Drug. This drug store has a long history; it is started since 1922. Due to my lack understanding of America’s pharmacy system, he introduced that the basic structure of American pharmacy is divided into community pharmacy and hospital pharmacy, in community pharmacy, two kinds of pharmacy exist, retailed pharmacy and independent pharmacy. St Paul Corner Drug is one of the independent pharmacy, their goal is to build good relationship with patients in the community, talk and listen to patients about their concerns and worries, give them the suggestions. These are very different compared to retailed pharmacy, whose goal is to make profits for companies. I love the independent pharmacy setting. I think I am talented at talking to people and I enjoy sharing stories with them. Sometimes I can just smile and give them comfort.
