Throughout the Bible many different men have been essential in fulfilling God’s will. One of the main men that had an extremely important part throughout the history of the Bible is Moses. Moses has a very interesting life in my opinion, he is known as one of the most important prophets not only in the Christian religion but also many other religions. The life of Moses’s is full of accomplishments with the help of God, but also struggles along the way. Starting from the very beginning of Moses’s life, he was born in Egypt when the Egyptians enslaved the Hebrew people. For instance a huge thing that is still important throughout today’s society is the Ten Commandments. For me, I still believe the importance of following and living by the Ten Commandments in your daily life. Have no other Gods, Have no idols, Honor God’s name, Honor the Sabbath day, Honor your parents, Do not murder, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not lie, and do not covet; are the Ten Commandments told to us many years ago and the same ones we hear today. During the month of “Nissan”, or the month in which Passover is to occur, on the tenth day each person must take a lamb from his or her home. They have to keep it until the fourteenth of that month and then must eat it in a hurry because it is the Passover Sacrifice. Then once they do that they must eat bread for seven days than on the next day they have to clear out yeast from their houses. Although today religions don’t exactly practice it in this way. For instance, Christians we experience Passover every spring, where we are essentially suppose to pray and fast for forty days. Long ago, in the desert of Egypt, Hebrew slaves known as Israelites escaped from the tyranny of the pharaoh. What God wanted done was done through Moses. I believe that Moses was justified in what he did at Mount Sinai, but I'm sure that, if I were one of the Hebrews, I wouldn't be able to believe what was going through Moses' head. I respect the character of Moses and I feel that his shrewdness was one of the key elements in the success of Exodus. In the end, with God on his side, Moses and God's following servants, led the Lord's people with great strength and courage, and delivered them safely into the awaited Holy Land.
Passover is an eight-day festival that takes place, from the 15th through the 22nd of the Hebrew month of Nissan, which is April 22 to the 30th (Chabad). Passover occurs over an important date because “It commemorates the emancipation of the Israelites from slavery in ancient Egypt. And, by following the rituals of Passover, we have the ability to relive and experience the true freedom that our ancestors gained” (Chabad). The Jewish people gather to have this celebration to have more connections with their ancestors and celebrate their freedom from slavery by doing the ritual of Passover.
The Ten Commandments monument should be removed is because it was put there dishonestly. If the circumstances of this situation were different, in that case I would agree that the Ten Commandments monument should stay. Then I take into consideration how the monument ended up in the public courthouse, and I can see why it should be removed. Perhaps the monument should not go away where it will never be seen again, but taken to a place where it can be seen by anyone that wishes.
When Moses was born, the Israelites were oppressed by the Egyptian Pharaoh and bound to a harsh life of labor, taking part in building some of the great public works of Egypt such as the pyramids, fortresses, and installations to regulate the flow of the Nile River. For fear that the Israelite population would continue to increase, the Pharaoh insisted that every male Hebrew child would be killed at birth. Ironically, during this oppressive period, Moses, the “future deliverer of Israel”, was born. To protect his life, his mother sent him down the Nile in a specially woven ark. He was found by the Pharaoh’s daughter who took him in and, to add to the irony, she hired his mother to be his foster nurse.
Jeremiah may be one of the most intriguing and revealing of the Old Testament prophets. With his continual return to god and the constant struggle between his heart and the voice of god. The Ten Commandments are the exact words of God which were engraved on a stone that was given to Moses by god.
