The Life of Bill Gates
William Henry Gates III, also known as Bill Gates, was born in Seattle, Washington, the 28th of October in 1955. Bill, the second child of three, grew up in an upper middle-class family. His parents, William H. Gates Sr., a lawyer, and Mary Maxwell, a schoolteacher, set a very affectionate and family-like atmosphere within their house. As he was brought up, he was encouraged greatly to strive for the best and to face competition in a headstrong fashion. When he was young, Bill developed a strong penchant to reading, although, he didn’t read just any type of books; he was mostly seen reading reference books, such as encyclopedias.
When Bill was around twelve, his parents began to grow concerned of his withdrawn behavior. In fear of him becoming an outsider to his peers, they decided to enroll him in Lakeside School, an exclusive prep school in Seattle. While enrolled at Lakeside, he flourished in almost all of his subjects, especially mathematics and science. Due to the proceeds being paid by The Mother’s Club at the school, Lakeside was able to purchase a teletype terminal for students to use, therefore, allowing the students time to access computers. After taking advantage of this opportunity, Bill found himself completely taken by the actions and possibilities of computers. During this time, he even wrote a tic-tac-toe program that granted its’ users permission to play as an opponent to the computer itself.
It was when Bill met Paul Allen, a man that was just two years older than him, that his fate was truly sealed. The two computer enthusiasts spent most of their time-off together and on the computer. In 1970, at the age of fifteen, Bill went into business with Paul, developing “Traf-O-Data”, a computer...

Many of his products, such as the IMac, that were released during this time have had an everlasting effect on technology as it is now; his products challenged all other companies, making it like a competition. After Apple began to progress greatly, as seen to the people of America, they began to released world-shattering products, such as the MacBook, IPhone, and IPod. Due to Steve and his amazing main-hand assistance in the reinvention of the Apple company, in 2008, ITunes, with is where half of the current revenue of Apple’s products comes from, became the second largest retailer in the music industry. As of the current times, many magazines, specifically the Fortune magazine, has ranked Apple as No.1 on its’ list of “America’s Most Admired Companies”.
