With the growing and frequently changing cooperative industries organisations are not only understanding the significance of public affairs and how their organisations are dealing with the audience outside with its stakeholders. Taking into consideration the fact that public affairs highlight relations with the general public. As said by McGrath (2005) in a general perspective the term public affairs include all the organizational functions associated with its reputation outside the firm. it could not be wrong saying that it includes lobby or political relations and media relations and community as well. Therefore in Lobbying circumstances public affairs seems to be indulge as governmental and political communications.
But also giving importance to legitimacy execute for the organisations with the respect of government rules and regulations which they are bound to do. However , sometimes big business who have huge investments and collaboration on political level leads organisations and collaborators both on risk level (Helm 2007). Because of their high standards and big names they both have to be on attentive on their each actions to protect and save their reputation and image For them they are always playing on risk. Sometime they do succeed and sometime miserably failed and that breakdown is the starting point of risk for them because failed in risk leads to serious crisis (Barton, 2001).
The similar case was with the Paul Flower scandal, the former ex Chairman of the reputed bank called Cooperative Bank was caught buying drugs and has previously involve in porn and gay activities as well. The scandal is still in a investigation process and because of the serious accusation by the Prime Minister himself the Labour Party leader and associates are also trying their level best to protect and save their reputation as well and try to justify their financial statements and settlements with the cooperative bank in front of investigatory board and public as well. The cooperative bank though hit the news for a couple of days were able to survive the issue of the former chairman’s scandal which could have brought much harm on their image. This was only achievable through the appropriate application of political legal and management practice.
