I define legal process as system that resolves disputes through an attempt to determine the truth. I understand that the legal process is used to make sure every dispute, crime, or claim is thoroughly research in order to find and state the truth for justice. As for my view on justice I believe that it means fairness in protection of rights and punishment of wrongs. America principles were founded on legal process to make sure everyone has the right to live peacefully and lawfully in this country. From my understanding the legal process is broken up and distinguished. There are generally two kinds of legal actions filed in the U.S.: civil cases and criminal cases. But, due to the pressures of population and technology, the biophysical environment is being degraded. This has been recognized, and thankfully governments have begun placing restraints on activities that cause environmental degradation. Since the 1960s, activity of environmental movements has created awareness of the various environmental issues. There is no agreement on the extent of the environmental impact of human activity, and protection measures must be continued in order to stop the destruction. So I do not deem that humans have a higher standard of protection than other species because we are the ones who are the primary reasons why a huge amount of species our going or have become extinct. We are destroying their habitats, disturbing their food chains, and taking all their resources that they need to survive. If anything they should be more protected from us because we are the ones causing their demise. That’s why environmental law exists because it is a body of rules and regulations, concerned with the maintenance and protection of the natural environment of a country. It provides basis for measuring and apportioning liability in cases of environmental crime and the failure to comply with its provisions. One example that influenced me in respect to environmental protection was when I read the Silent Spring book by Racheal Carson. The book is about how spraying chemicals to control insect populations can also kill birds that feed on dead or dying insects. That chemicals travel not only through the environment, but through food chains. The chemicals that don’t outright kill can accumulate in fat tissues causing medical problems later on, and that chemicals can be transferred generationally from mothers to their young.
