Even though there are some clear advantages to keep the legal drinking age of twenty-one, there are a few groups of people who are strongly opposed to the issue. At the moment, some argue that this is a country of freedom, and should focus on that and not how many people of a younger age die in car (Wilkinson, 2008). Not all people should be defined by others mistakes, and not all teens will drink and drive if allowed to drink. There should not be segregation in what freedoms some have because of age. Although the Bible does not directly say a drinking age should be enforced, it tells the importance of avoiding drunkenness (ESV). The whole idea of having a minimum drinking age is to create a better environment for the population, and help teens avoid life altering mistakes. With a consequence as a possible result of drinking many teens will not take the chance of messing with alcohol and the outcome of binge drinking. In the Bible, it is stated and pushed to believers to not let their body be mastered by anything. In 1 Corinthians 6:12, it states that though things may be lawful they can also not be helpful, and to not let the body be dominated by anything (ESV). In this case, it is unlawful to drink at a certain age under twenty-one, and by drinking alcohol at a younger age it puts up a greater chance of being controlled by alcohol later in life. As followers of Christ, believers are called to steer those who are easily influenced, such as teens, to stay away from being mastered by the power of alcohol. Once more in 1 Corinthians 10:31, the Bible states that whatever is eaten or drank or whatever is done, do it the glory of God (ESV). This verse is a great example that whatever is done in this world do it for the glory of God and even drinking or eating is involved. If teens drink at an age the law has restricted then they are not glorifying God through actions. In conclusion, believers are told to treat their bodies correctly. For example, in 1 Corinthians 6:19 it states that the body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit (ESV). Therefore with the evidence that alcohol could damage the growing brain of a teen is not respecting the body in anyway. The law of a drinking age of twenty-one is providing protection for teens in that it helps the body stay healthy, growing, and
