Abortion has always been an ongoing controversy in the United States surrounding the legal and moral status of what is called induced abortion (ending a pregnancy purposely instead of spontaneously). Before going deeper into the history or current debates over the issue, we have to look simply at the fact of its existence in the United States. According to studies released by the Guttmacher Institute in July 2014, “in 2011, 1.06 million abortions were performed”. Research by the same group shows that half of pregnancies among American women are unintended, and almost half of these are terminated by abortion. The Center for Disease Control’s Website shows the highest percentages of women who terminate their pregnancy are unmarried, Caucasians …show more content…

However, those religions agree that under no circumstances should a pregnancy be aborted simply because it is inconvenient to carry a baby.

However, the anti-abortion lobby has continued to seek by all means to limit the application or make it inaccessible; cost of travel, lack of nearby centers, lack of information, muscular bullying practices against women, medical professionals and their families. This lobby also uses the risk of bleeding, infection and even death in support of “pro-life” activists’ fight against abortion. Many anti-abortion “rallies” take place in front of Planned Parenthood. Protesters hold placards with “pro-life” slogans and prevent women from entering in the Planned Parenthood.

Abortion will continue to be an issue opposing “pro-choice” and “pro-life” sides. The basis of this issue essentially lies within the values and beliefs of each faction. That being said, the issue will likely remain steeped in controversy and unsolved.
As citizens, we cannot inhibit or deny women’s right to choose. However, we can regulate their decisions and allow the state governments to establish the appropriate clauses and restrictions of “legalized
