History has a strong presence in the current world and as much as the world has changed and evolved many things remain the same. Many traditions and customs reverberate through decades and are carried on by individuals who honor and uphold their predecessor’s beliefs and fundamental rules. One such company is Lincoln Electric Company, founded in the late eighteen hundred by John C Lincoln it has manufactured original designed electric motors. Since its establishment it has maintained a leading status in the employment sector with low employee turnover, the only exception being retirement. Most companies aren’t able to run a successful company using this model due to different detrimental parts of their companies. The balance at Lincoln Electric has helped keep the company running and growing since its inception. Many employees have worked for Lincoln Electric for decades, part of the high retention rate in the company has to do with internal postings allowing employees to continually apply for jobs within the company that best fit their craft and preference. Furthermore, the surpervisonal aspect in the company is nonexistent, supervisors are not micromanagers and expect their subordinates to deliver without what is expected on their own. The biggest surprise comes from employment requirement; most jobs only require a high school diploma. In conjunction with educational requirement comes their compensation model. Lincoln, was rooted in Christian belief but not outwardly stated. Although Christian belief was the center of the company’s initial philosophy it has not been mentioned in any of the recent chairman’s speeches, currently there is not a display of religious beliefs. At Lincoln Electric the need of the customers is the reason for being and the drive behind all the actions of its employees. James Lincoln’s philosophy puts the customer as the most important part of the company followed by its employees and lastly its stakeholders. It this clear vision that has powered the success of the company and has maintained it as a major player its field. In any business money is the driving force, whether it is the owner or employee. Money is the greatest incentive for performance amongst employees Lincoln Electric defined this fundamental reason for driving employees to excel at their jobs. Aside from compensation there is an understating between mangers and their subordinates that both have the same fear toward lack of income, this commonality serves to encourage all employees to deliver quality and affordable products at the best market
