In the United States today, there are over fifty-one million disabled adults and children. Throughout our nation’s history, we have not allowed the best treatment and care for these numerous citizens. But, in the recent past, the government has passed laws, made exceptions, and thoroughly tried to provide accommodations to these people with special needs. While this is true, America, as a whole, still views this group as strange or different. Even though this is exceptionally normal, it is not correct. The United States needs to be opened up to the truth about their fellow American citizens. The people of America ought to understand that these disabilities affect not only those who are disabled, but that it affects the family and friends of these citizens. And, along with that, the nation needs to recognize the amount of different disabilities that hinder their fellow Americans. If so, our nation could better accommodate those people who are affected by using laws that have been in place for quite a while. Many people neither pay attention to the laws, nor do they realize the laws that they are violating. Equipping the United States with such information could consequently form an accepting and knowledgeable nation. However, without moving forward to help our fellow American citizen, The United States of America will never become the nation it originally set out to be.

Many Americans would assume that a physical disability would only include people who cannot walk, or people that do not have the ability to use their limbs. However, this thought is not correct. Learning disabilities are disorders that affect the brain's ability to receive, process, analyze, and/or store information. These problems with a learning disability can make it difficult for an individual to learn as quickly as someone who isn't affected by learning disabilities. There are many kinds of learning disabilities. Most people affected by learning disabilities have more than one kind of disiblity. Certain kinds of learning disabilities can affect a person's ability to concentrate or focus and can cause someone's mind to wander. There are many other learning disabilities that can make it difficult for an affected individual to read, write, spell, or solve math problems. Nearly four million school-age children and teens have learning disabilities, and at least twenty percent of them have a type of disorder that makes it difficult to focus
