League of Legends
I. Introduction
E-sports can be defined as the professionalization of competitive digital gaming.
A useful starting point to understanding the idea, this definition speaks to the element of e-sports way of doing things: players can, if they possess sufficient skill at a particular digital game, control their high-level play as their primary means of income. This is primarily due to the fact that “e-sports” often carries different definitions for different situations and different people. This is why I believe spending some time playing league of legends because it is sincerely the ultimate MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena).
II. How The Game Is Played
The Recipe of Life
League of Legends is generally categorized generically as an Action RTS (Real-Time Strategy) or a MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena), a genre distinction created by Riot Games to describe League of Legends and similar titles. The champions in the game's system, each possess different abilities and stats that make them different from each other. The variety of champions available is quite large like the Sahara desert. Right now, there are 126 champions available to play. Champion concepts are pulled from a variety of sources, but most of them embody characters from myths, legends, comics, etc. Selecting which champion to play in a match extends beyond personal preference. Each champion excels at certain types of actions within the game, and one's choice of champion is a factor in deciding what role a player will fulfill for his or her team or could cause a turning point in battle. Combinations of champions can also exhibit various levels of strategic synergy. The abilities of one champion may work well with the abilities of another...

...r League of Legends careers, the moral economy of League of Legends guide writing culture also illustrates the self promotion and willingness to blur the lines between works, home, and play that a economic environment necessary that acts like a guide posting and play streaming create an example that players strive to emulate. The desire to better one's own League of Legends play only happens if these players do eventually reach the professional level, they will find themselves compelled to contribute in order to build their image as pros and cement their place in the League of Legends professionally and continuing the cycle and paving the way for the next wave of professional players to do the same. This image management builds on the idea of what it means to be a League of Legends professional, and that means building on what it means to be a laborer in an economy.
Killstreaks from previous call of duty games have been replaced with score streaks which are now earned through gaining points rather than getting kills. The weapons in Black ops 2 have a progression system which is used to unlock attachments for the weapons, after maxing out the guns players have the option to prestige the weapon but doing so resets the gun losing all the attachments until the player ranks back up again, you are able to customize your gun with emblems and clan tags in exchange for the prestige. Multiplayer is also the first call of duty to include league play into the game giving players the chance to play against each other with major league gaming (MLG) rules enforced. The game features small, medium and large maps with the usual 3 lane map design keeping the game fast paced and easy to find and kill
Former NFL linebacker, Leon Searcy said, “Guys competed just as hard off the field as they did on the field.” Corben includes anecdotal evidence and expert opinions to strength the idea of more money more problems. The sports industry uses meritocracy, the payment method of how well you play is how well you get paid. A large portion of athletes don’t get paid in the millions but buy like they do. Because of this spending technique many live paycheck to paycheck which is an example of expert opinion. An example of Corben using anecdotal evidence is when he included the story of Mike Tyson, Mike had multiple tigers and got sued because a man got mauled. Corben included this evidence to prove to the audience having nice, expensive things don’t always have a nice outcome. A particular athlete wrote a check to a credit card company for $108,000 for one month. With big bucks, it becomes easy to swipe the card. This anecdote strengthens Corben’s argument by giving a personal
Professional sports were beginning to be organized in the 1850s. At this point, their salaries, although they were still higher than the average person’s, were not too outrageous. In the 1880s and 90s, baseball players in particular were making on average about $1,750 annually. Even though this was three times the salary of an industrial worker of the time, they were not happy with this amount of money and felt they should be earning more (Baseball n.d.). In the 1970s, the worlds of professional sports took a drastic turn. According to an article by J.L. Carnagie, “Two words described sports in the 1970s: big business. Owners and athletes in major professional team sports knew there was money to be made in their games, and they went after it.” (Carnagie, n.d.) Athletes, especially, realized how competitive teams were becoming, and they were well aware that talent was in high demand. In the beginning of 1980s, the best athletes were demanding even more money; and the majority of the time, they got what they wanted. By end of the 1980s, many athletes were making over a million dollars (Carnagie, n.d.) These increasing salaries were very ironic because when professional sports began they were intended to be a showcase of players’ talent and athletic ability. Professional sports leagues were also supposed to be similar to the Olympics in that they would be free of politics and influence of society. However, by the 80s, they had become all about the star athletes and how much money they could make. By this point, professional sports had evolved into an industry that was focused on entertainment and money, rather than the sports actually being played (Carnagie, n.d.).
The real success beyond LV is about segmenting its unique products. According to the “Louis Vuitton and the diamond model” figure 16 the importance of the products are displayed in a diamond figure. This categorization approach about LV’s products not only segment its unique products but also is an example of how a globally well known successful brand achieve its mission in the luxury market.According to the figure 17 above, the potential contribution of the Asian consumers to the fashion leather goods category provided a different age for the brand (LVMH 2012 a: 11). It is important to highlight that Asia as a geographic region has the potential to support the growth of the revenues of the brand. Moreover, Japan is a unique country other than Asia because Japan makes 3.107 M € revenue by itself except from Asia which makes 7,895 M € revenue LVMH (2013d).According to the figure 18 above, the company shares for the the bags and luggage categories retail value is in an increasing trend according to the years between 2008-2012. This shows that there is still a demand potential for the products in this category despite the increase of prices on early basis. (Euromonitor International 2013 e).According to the figure 19 above, it is important for Louis Vuitton to be in a growing trend approximately every year. On the otherhand, it’s growing trend will help to realize it’s own paticular position compared to the luxury sector. (Interbrand 2013c).The revenue by business group growth percentages are different for 2011and 2012 compared to H1 2012 AND H1 2013 for LVMH group.Especially for “fashion leather goods” the 2011 and 2012 was more profitable compared to 2012 to 2013. What is common among the business categories is that the most re...
In the article,”Opinion: Who's to blame for athletes' salaries? We are”, the author proves that the reason why the wages of athletes are skyrocket high is that us, the viewers make it that way. The author proves this by stating that fans buy team merchandise, which increases athlete's wages. The author also believes that many people have pieces of team merchandise which they love to wear, and furthermore, some teams even create products that fit babies, including bibs and pacifiers, like the Washington Redskins. Another point is that since millions of fans watch the professional athletes play every game, the money that the athletes make comes from the money that the media pays. What this means is that the media companies first buy the permission
When looking into the history of our culture, there are many subtopics that fall under the word, “history.” Topics such as arts and literature, food, and media fall into place. Among these topics reside sports. Since the beginning of time, sports have persisted as an activity intertwined with the daily life of people. Whether it is a pick-up game of football in the backyard, or catching an evening game at the local stadium, sports have become the national pastime. According to Marcus Jansen of the Sign Post, more specifically, baseball is America’s national pastime, competing with other sports (Jansen 1). Providing the entertainment that Americans pay top dollar for, live the role models, superstars, and celebrities that put on a jersey as their job. As said in an article by Lucas Reilly, Americans spend close to $25.4 billion dollars on professional sports (Reilly 4). The people that many children want to be when they grow up are not the firefighters or astronauts told about in bed time stories. These dream jobs or fantasies have become swinging a bat or tossing a football in front of millions of screaming fans. When asked why so many dream of having such job, the majority will respond with a salary related answer. In today’s day and age, the average athlete is paid more than our own president. The cold hard facts show that in professional sports, the circulation of money is endless. Certain teams in professional baseball and football are worth over millions of dollars. Consequently, the teams who are worth more are able to spend more. The issue that arises with this philosophy is virtually how much more? League managers, team owners and other sports officials have sought out a solution to the surfacing problem. Is it fair to let...
The impact that soccer has had on the United States has drastically changed the American society and it will continue to mold the culture for years to come. Soccer, in one or more ways, has had some part in the lives every American citizen, whether it be the money spent by the government on stadiums and professional teams, or the time spent watching and playing the game. Although the sport did not have a strong early presence in American lives it has substantially grown in recent years, thus effectively popularizing soccer in every corner of the globe. The sport plays an important role in modern American society and has a bright future ahead of it.

Once there was a little boy who loved to play sports, although he was never naturally talented at them. He was never the fastest, never the strongest, and most definitely never the most coordinated. He liked to play all sorts of sports; basketball, baseball, soccer, football, and track. But one sport stood above all, and that was basketball. Which was ironic because that was probably the sport he was least naturally talented in. That little boy was me.

Soccer is unequivocally one of the most popular sports in the world (López-Segovia et al., 2011). A survey conducted in 2006 showed that there were a total of 265 million male and female soccer players and 5 million referees and officials or 4% of the world’s population actively involved in the sport (FIFA, 2006). According to the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), 90% of all registered players were male, with younger soccer players comprising the greatest proportion (54.7%) of all registered male players (Daneshjoo et al., 2013).
Lacrosse should it become an official high school sport? As this topic comes in many states in the nation there is a huge controversy in the world of lacrosse. Many states on the east coast have made it an school sport, but that really do us people in the midwest now does it? Just in the last couple of years the NAIA has made lacrosse and official school sport. Which is a huge deal for people like me who would like to play at the next level but don’t have the money to play in the NCAA. There is twenty two states in the United States that has recognized lacrosse as an official school sport. Missouri is not one of those states however. The lack of funding in the high schools in the state of Missouri is what is preventing the sport grow at the pace it should be growing, the amount of teams, and the lack of coaches. Missouri State High School Activities Accusations or also known as MSHSAA should make lacrosse a recognized school sport so that the sport can keep growing at the rate it is.
The birth of Esports can contribute most of its discovery to its original roots from the 19th century era (Bellis). To understand the next generation of athlete culture, Esports, it is necessary for individuals to understand the beginnings of the newly bred activity. During the 19th century era video games were often overlooked due to its funky nature, however, the introduction of new technology that allowed individuals to manipulate and control objects was appealing to some (Bellis). One of the very first video games to have been developed was a simple graphical computer application used to resemble virtual Tic-Tac-Toe (Bellis). Although the game was simple in nature and basic in control, ...
Broadcasted competitive gaming has been around since the beginning of arcade games when people were competing for the highest score on shows like Starcade back in 1982(Bell). However, in the past couple of years the competitive gaming world has exploded in growth with more games, more tournaments, more players, and bigger cash prizes. During this most recent November there were eight major tournaments for a multitude of games including League of Legends, Call of Duty, and Counter Strike: Global Offensive and some less competitive games such as Battlefield 4, FIFA 14, and Street Fighter. With over a five million people watching these tournaments it is clearly visible that there is a passionate and large group of people that want this competitive gaming scene to expand. With all the activity going on in only a month and with smaller tournaments running all the time it is clear to see that competitive gaming or more formally called eSports has become in such a small time. However, the important question is whether or not eSports should be considered an actual sport like Football, Soccer, or Basketball. According to a ruling by the Olympic Committee, League of Legends already is, and will be taking a place in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro with other games being considered for the 2020 Olympics. Although there are those out that would like to dispute this ruling and say that eSports don’t meet the requirements of a traditional sport. A big argument has been conceived from the committee decision, but not all the arguments being used is valid and then there are those that.
