Leadership Theory and Practice
Leadership is something that is really needed by all of the individual as well as to the organizations. The word leader has been derived from the leadership, which means a person that leads towards something so that the follower could achieve the goals. There are a number of the theories and the studies that have explored the importance of the leaders to the organization. The nations on the other side are also in need of someone who could lead them toward getting the goals. Leaders have the visions that are necessary for achieving the set destination. There is no place of the world where there is no need of leaders. It will be justified to say that due to leaders the hard and the difficult goals become simpler and easier to achieve. (Haslam, Reicher, & Platow, 2015)
There will be probably any sort of organization that achieved its goal of high profit without the assistance of the leaders. There is a need to take into consideration, the difference between the leader and the manager. Leader is a personality that leads the team, while the manager is the personality that manages the things by being at the back of the team. Both of the words speak about themselves and have their own values and the importance.
It is very necessary to distinguish both of them from each other so that everything could become clear to everybody. It will be the personality of the person that will show someone about the person that whether he will be a leader or not. There are many theories that have developed on this notion, like the Great Man theory that explains the behavior of the leaders and explains that they have the charismatic personality through which, they can influence the motivational level of the other person. ...with the leaders. The politicians like Nelson Mandela are considered to be the true leader of their nation because of their exceptional personality. They are the team leaders and have the ability to control the situation if anything goes wrong. They know how to control the conflict and what the best strategy is to be adopted. Leaders are the brain for any organization.
They need to have the required abilities to get the people attracted toward them. The authentic leaders are the ones that understand what they are going to say to the other persons. They have the complete control over their personality and do not want to hurt anybody in any case. They are the problem solver rather the problem creator. Whether it is the matter of business or educational institution or any other place, the leadership is necessary for making these entities successful in all the matters.
Everyone has their own ideas of what a leader is, what they might look like, act like or maybe what their accomplishments were. They, who are the leaders are the ones who have made a changed in the world and have shown people how true leaders are recognized as. They may have made mistakes in life, but they each take leadership and they each are unique, having their own personalities and an individual quality that makes them a true leader. A leader can portray attributes like courage: having bravery and overcoming fears, confidence: to believe in oneself, and action: to be able to accomplish amazing deeds for the benefit of family, friends and others.
Leadership can be defined as the way through which one individual has impacts and influences the attitudes and behavior of other people at a workplace. The tasks of leaders in corporations include organizational as well as departmental activities. Leaders are responsible fr coordination of these activities so as to reach the goals successfully by motivating and inspiring team members. (DUYGULU, Ethem and Ciraklar, Nurcan, 2008). Besides, leaders are supposed to resolve issues by avoiding conflicting situations related to work and strive to boost progress on achieving the overall objectives of a company. Moreover, great leaders provide the required knowledge,
Leadership is all about having the right amount of heart and determination to help make a difference in someone’s life. It takes certain qualities to be considered a good leader. A leader should want to help inspire others to make a change and to be the best that they can be. A true leader does not need to feel powerful, instead they empower those around them. Throughout my life I have come across various leaders who have made an impact on my life. It takes a very special person to inspire and touch people’s lives. Leadership is so much deeper than having power and bossing people around.
“Without leaders, things drift along”. They go where they want to go, following the path of least resistance. A leader’s job is to overcome this resistance and make the things flow in a different direction.
The world needs leaders because leaders instal structure. There are qualities that make a person a good leader. In the Lord of the Flies by William Golding, one of the main characters steps up to be the chief of the group of kids that he crash landed with on a deserted island. He is handed the responsibility of keeping these children alive and trying to get on the island. A leader is someone who ensures structure and someone others look up to. Leaders must show initiative, authority, and must be persistent.
According to Maurice Flanagan, “Some are born leaders, some achieve leadership and some have leadership thrust upon them, which of these are you, or would you rather not bother?“
Leadership can be shown through any person in any type of situation. In a classroom discussion, on the playing field, or in public a sign of a leader is evident. A person is born a leader. Certain humans know what to do when the time calls for it. Many people in positions can be entitled a leader such as basketball players. Even a famous movie star can be given this title. These people are not true leaders. True leaders are the belaboring teachers and the intellectual speakers. These are the people who show that leadership is an action, not a position.
Leaders are the individuals who help to create options and opportunities. They help in identifying the choices and solve the problems. They build commitment and coalitions. Leaders do this by inspiring others and working along with them to construct the shared vision of the possibilities and commitments of a better group, organization or community. They engage the followers in such a way that most of the followers become leaders in their own right. The variety of demands of an increasingly complex world very often require that leadership be shared by most of the members of an organization, in appropriate ways for different situations. A leader is the on...
A leader needs to “believe” in oneself and have the confidence that whatever you say will excite and what you do can motivate others. You must be optimistic about what you do, do have some relevance for being in existence. Believe it or not, “leadership begins with you”.
There are many different things I think of when I think of what leadership means to me. My idea of leadership is to be able to inspire others, get them excited to do something, motivate them and set an example to others. I also think that showing respect to others is a key part of leadership. You don’t just need leadership qualities, but you need to be a successful leader. To me being a successful leader is being able to have people follow you and not disrespect you. If you are a great leader your followers start to respect you more. To be a leader you also need to have certain qualities like being sociable, intelligent, have patience to deal with situations. A leader needs to be motivated or they will be a failure. I think I show leader ship all the time inside and outside of school. “A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way (John C. Maxwell).
Leadership is the controlling force of the whole world, it allows everything to operate best without any chaos. Leadership is important in business because leaders must manage and communicate with employees if they wish to be successful. Leaders range from the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to managers of different levels.
As Yukl (2010) indicates, such factors (e.g. personality, values and capacities) attributed to a leader. Normally it is widespread acknowledged that someone is born to be a lead...
Leadership and management are two words that are commonly mistaken; the relation and the differences between them are often unclear. Leadership can be defined as the ability to influence a group toward the achievement of a vision or a set of goals." Managers are there to plan, organize, lead and monitor employees' activities. Leaders also have to be able to guide an organization through change. As we will see later, vision is a crucial component in the success of this task.
According to Shockley and Zalabak (2009) "Leadership is a process of guiding individuals, groups, and entire organization in establishing goals and sustaining action to support goals.Leadership is like mapping out where you need to go to win". A Leader is a person who has a strong personality and who has an ability to manage people and work. He is also the person who is able to direct people .Usually a leaders has a lot of attributes that
In my view most important character of a good leader is that they must be compassionate. Having a personality of caring about people is important. You can?t be a good leader unless you generally like people. That is how you bring out the best in them. No matter what credential they have and how much experience they have in administration but without being compassionate they can't ever become a responsible and successful leader. For example Hitler is known for his cruelty and he had no feelings for his own race. He failed to understand the feelings of Jews and thus persecuted them. He also failed to know the fact that the strength of his country lies in them, while opposite is Mahatma Gandhi, a major political and spiritual leader of India, followed nonviolent actions, avoiding any bloodshed in the country during their struggle for Independence. Because of his compassionate nature many leaders in today's world has looked him upon. So leader must be compassionate first without being influence by any ulterior motive.
