The leader whom I had a privilege to interview works for a reputed financial company and also volunteers in the NYC assembly man office. His leadership style is characterized by inspiring and leading people, creating values and long-range perspectives, developing new ideas and focusing on society. Even though it is hard for him to separate his managerial responsibilities during his work in the financial company, his goals were always oriented towards people and improving his community wellbeing. Unlike the manager, who relies on the control and structure, leader inspires trust and focuses on people. Manager concentrates on organizing work, following orders, assigning the right people to the necessary tasks, coordinating the results, and ensuring the job get done as ordered. Leader, on the other hand, challenge the reasoning behind the actions, and strive to do the right thing as oppose to simply following the orders. Leader has vision and values that might be beneficial in the long run, and manager is concentrated on the efficiency of a particular task in short period of time. One of the most applicable models that facilitated me in defining this person leadership style is the model of transformational leader. Such leaderships cause change in individual and society, as well as creates valuable and positive transformation. Transformational Leadership starts with the development of a vision, a view of the future that will excite and convert potential followers. Once the vision is developed, it has to be constantly conveyed to the people who would be willing to support such vision. Therefore, such leader is full...

..., however, where value comes increasingly from the knowledge of people, and where workers are no longer undifferentiated mechanism in an industrial machine, management and leadership are not easily separated. People look to their managers, not just to assign them a task, but to define for them a purpose. And managers must organize workers, not just to maximize efficiency, but to nurture skills, develop talent and inspire results. In India, M.K. Gandhi inspired millions of people to fight for their rights, and he walked shoulder to shoulder with them so India could achieve independence in 1947. His vision became everyone’s dream and ensured that the country’s push for independence was unstoppable. The world needs leaders like him who can think beyond problems, have a vision, and inspire people to convert challenges into opportunities, a step at a time.
