Leadership Institute, previously known as LeadSTRONG, is a two day workshop for students to participate in small groups to exchange their ideas as well as learn more about how to be a leader in life. This event provides each individual with new perspective in the role and responsibility as a leader, including both the interior and exterior factors. The first annual Leadership Institute was located in SAC Ballroom B on both February 20th at 5pm and February 21st at 10am. Even though most of the speeches and events were take place in SAC Ballroom B, some of the activities were also placed among Ballroom A and entire third floor.
This program’s invitation was send out to entire campus by email and because of that its publicity was very effective among all the students. The email was very eye-catching to the people who wanted to develop skills for leading social and global awareness. On the flyer of the Leadership Institute, there also was the link for the registration of the event and indication of a special giveaway for the first 50 students. ...faculties when we wanted to talk to them about our ideas.
If there will host the second annual leadership institute or another program similar to it, I will definitely attend it again. As Dr. Waston indicated during in his speech, this event is just the start point of our role in leadership. We need to understand more about other’s way of thinking in order to know more about the society around us. This type of event helps us exchange our ideas and even finds more ways to help others in life. In my own opinion, there are still few points the event can be improve for the future. For example, if they can extent the time for the event, we can have more opportunities to talk to everyone rather than the people in your own group. Nevertheless, this program really helps the student to be part of the leadership role and to understand the importance to understand others view.
