Each organization big or small has its own values, ways of doing things and assumption that it operates in. The principles and ethics that exist in each of these companies are the baseline through which the company operates its affairs. This is what can be called as that organization’s culture. The culture in existence has an impact on the productivity, effectiveness and efficiency (Keyton, 2011). The basis of setting the most appropriate culture of a company is not only to move or increase the profitability but also to make the stakeholders happy and satisfied. One aspect of that is the employee or the human resource the firm who put their expertise in the firm and add a bit of creativity and innovativeness to move the products. Chick-Fil-A operates in a competitive industry thus it requires all the stakeholders.

The store gives off good vibes with its unique bowl shaped lights which are complemented by the maroon, and gray interior. Each and every table has a vase that has a single flower in it, this also gives the restaurant some elegance, because not many fast food chains do that. Now put all of that together, and you will get a great fast food restaurant. After all the capital “A” in Chick-fil-A is for good quality, and that all Chick-fil-A will give
Panera’s viewpoint revolved around the idea of “being better than the guys across the street” (Gamble, Peteraf and Thompson, 2013, p.333). This idea gives you a look into how all companies really view the business operations and/or the accomplishments or lack thereof. All companies try to find its competitive advantage. Having the competitive advantage allows the business to stand-out amongst its competitors. Because Panera has been viewed as a company that follows servant leadership, it requires that the company rely on the following features: ability to listen, compassion, influence, forethought and responsibility. As stated by Spears, “servant leadership requires the aforementioned attributes to be present in order for
Chipotle Mexican Grill founder Steve Ells had a vision to “change the way people think about and eat fast food” (Gamble, Peteraf, & Thompson, Jr., 2015). He wanted to create a
Throughout the novel Lord of the Flies, William Golding is able to touch on the many aspects of our civilization through the various characters he creates. Leadership plays a very important role in the novel as it does in real life because the characters need to feel some sense of security in order for them to survive. The two main leaders in the story, through their similar and different leadership characteristics and objectives fight back and forth to gain the discipline of the other boys on the island and generally the power to make the decisions that they feel should be made. Both leaders, Jack and Ralph, experience leading the group in their own style, which is similar in their desire for control yet different pertaining to their leadership qualities and their objectives while on the island.
Chad Miller, manager of Buffalo Wild Wings in Dubuque, excellently showcases leadership characteristics each time I work with him. Throughout my one and a half years working underneath him, I have witnessed many great exchanges of leadership from Chad to customers, employees, and his other managers. He remains professional, shows his passion for the sports within the restaurant, as well as the food and atmosphere, clearly communicates effectively, and has inspired many people to move up within the company. However, another great example of leadership comes from the Director of Student Life, Diversity, and Leadership of Northeast Iowa Community College, Kara Popp. She exudes professionalism, while maintaining a light atmosphere during the time I work with her. Her communication style clearly shows her passion for the school by consistently instilling excitement and enthusiasm into her audiences. As president underneath of Kara, I have transformed into a proper leader. Although my previous leadership experience, as an 18 year old manager at a McDonald’s restaurant, showed my immaturity throughout my tenure, but beca...
Under corporate governance, the Board of Directors has majority power. After shareholders elect the Board, said Board selects the CEO who is responsible for managing the business. The key problem with Chipotle’s central and formal governance is that their strategy does not encourage innovation or employee moral. Instead, the Board of Directors decides what they feel Chipotle’s franchisees should implement, and tells managers to relay their decisions to in-store employees. Therefore, corporate representatives strive to improve in-store quality through strict supervision of each franchisee. They make decisions regarding all processes from the preparation of the product, customer service, and marketing strategies, which are enforced at each location. This system is slow and decreases efficiency. Since store employees are kept out of the immediate circle, it is difficult for them to have confidence in Chipotle’s operations, resulting in low employee empowerment. Chipotle can implement a few liaisons (brokers and structural holes) to make sure that all professional networks within corporate and store levels are communicating effectively and working as a

7-Eleven focuses on teamwork and encourages all franchisees to train every employee to be a leader instead of a follower. As an employee in 7-Eleven, I have been always told to dream as if one day I would be franchisee of a 7-Eleven store. One other thing the corporate tells the owners to look at is hire someone who would become a franchisee one day. Managers are expected to give out extrinsic rewards, and be a charismatic leader.

Running a restaurant can be one of the most stressful jobs as well as the most fun and rewarding jobs.
