Now-a-days, leaders play a key role not only in the development of any organization but also making the organization to take a successful path. Therefore most of the current researchers are focusing on the traits of the leaders and effective leadership style. There are different opinions and notions on the concepts of leadership and its importance in the real world including: if leaders are born or made, do they have to be virtuous (noble and honorable) and do they need to change according to the situation.
What is the concept of leadership?
Concept of leadership depends on the notion of that word. In day to day life, we speak of leaders in different contexts. we will refer people with highest occupation in the organizations(public, political, business, army) as leaders. We will show few people who possess qualities which others don 't possess and refer those people as leaders and qualities as leadership characters. But there is a lot of difference between the outside world and the academic world regarding the basic approaches for the leadership concept. According to Peter G. Northouse (2004) " Leadership is a process whereby an individual influences a group of individuals to achieve a common goal." To be in detailed: It is a process of transactional event between a leader and a follower. It is an influence of how the leader effect the follower. It occurs in groups and pays attention to common goals. In olden days, leaders (for example: Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Teresa) used to lead the people but now-a-days, leaders are ruling the people. • Monitor – need to check the work going on in the unit and also should have an idea regarding the completion of tasks and assignments assigned to the subordinates.
• Coordinator – need to maintain the structure of the unit.
• Broker – need to be a liaison and should have an interaction to acquire the resources.
Each role is interlinked to one other. In order to reach the pinnacle, a manager should have all the above qualities. For example, a manager should be innovative enough to draw a new path and surpass the rest of the competition. It is possible with a good team and ever evolving vision. Each and every situation should be scrutinized until it reaches the most efficient state. Of course taking care of obstacles during that process influences success. To sum up with, the ability to succeed for a manager comes up with a good leadership quality.
