Lady Gaga’s latest album titled, “Joanne” has been the turning point in Gaga’s career. Typically, when you think of Lady Gaga you think of meat dresses, massive heels, and outstandingly complex performances on and off of the stage. Given that her previous album, “Artpop”, is filled with creative ideals, wild costumes, and vulgar lyrics. This left many of her fans a bit confused as to what the, “Joanne” album is all about and why it is so relaxed compared to her previous creations. Gaga’s latest album is a tribute album to her laid Aunt Joanne. The death of her Aunt was a sudden tragedy at twelve years of age when she passed from Lupus. Although, many people don’t realize it, her Aunt Joanne’s legacy has had a strong impact on her entire career.
As she began to make her big break in 2011, Gaga emphasized on how the influence of her Aunt Joannes death saved her from her downward spiral (Redfearn, Oct. 16, 2017). Lady Gaga wrote a poem in response to the death of Joanne which stated, “For all the words you could not say/ I promise they’ll be mine,/ The one you meant to marry J/ I promise I will find/ And when your brother calls for me/ I promise I will come,/ Cause when I feel that I may break/ You heart, it makes mine strong". This explains,that Gaga feels obligated to live her life, from this point on, vicariously through Joanne. Her professional motivation lies within the unfinished dreams of Joanne, which overall, puts Gaga on the right track. The path Joanne has unintentionally paved for Lady Gaga has allowed her to create a stronger bond with her fans. This bond between Gaga, her fans and, Joanne has derailed her addictions and depression while also sparking the fire for her latest album.
