Lack of Parking Spaces on OU Campus
It is hard to find parking on campus, especially during rush hours. Both students and professors are encountering trouble for this crisis. As a simple example, the parking lot next to the Sarkeys building is always full. This problem is a continuous, daily hazard. As a student required to maintain a lot of class schedules and activities, I suffer from the parking problem daily and find that others encounter the same. It is true that the university is working on a new parking garage, but during the construction process, there is no alternative way to settle the crisis. I ran to my class, but unfortunately I missed my quiz. Similarly, many students miss a few minutes of their classes because they have to go to several parking lots to find a spot. With tight class schedules, the university 's suggestion of parking in Lloyd Noble and then using the bus service is not convenient. Lloyd Noble is 2.0 miles away from the Bizzell Memorial Library (the center of the university). Using the buses at Lloyd Noble is not a good idea because students have to check the schedule of the buses, and they might waste more than 20 minutes of their time waiting for the bus. Moreover, Lloyd Noble buses do not stop; at every bus stop, so students are limited to one stop area. I remember one day my advisor came from Houston to visit me, and he was about one hour late because he said he was struggling with parking. In addition, I have seen shuttles stop at the parking near the Duck Pond (the parking located east of the football stadium) and use it as a drop and pickup area, which makes extra hazards for other car drivers to drive on and cross the roads. All these problems cause delays in students ' schedules. If this situation continues, students will miss more classes, and that might result in a bad performance in the classroom for many. 3. The biggest opportunity cost would come from allocating a square block in the heart of New York City for a surface parking lot. The reason for this is because the value of a square block in the heart of New York City would command a much higher price than one of just a suburb. Therefore, the sacrifice, or opportunity cost, would be greater giving up a block in the heart of New York city.

First this Tardy Policy deprived us students , we try are best to come to school on time but there's going to be days where we won't be on time due to problems. As a Millikan student I take the city bus at 6:46 everyday and it's hard and stressful, the bus can take long to get to school due to traffic. Also when my parents drive me there's always traffic , I always see students getting dropped off in the middle of the street just to try to make it on time. That can be really dangerous and It can cause a accident. Students should not have to be rushed to try to make it in time just cause they don't want
The start if college is like the end of one’s childhood. Yet I had no intension of letting that go when I woke up yesterday at 7:00 am. Still, like high school, my mom dropped me off and picked me up; copping almost the exact same routine from the four years I spent in high school. Just as I thought this ought to be the easiest way of transportation, my mom proved me wrong once we reached the University of Washington’s parking lot.
One of the live events I recently attended was the Comedy Get Down Tour, hosted at Consol Energy Center, September 18th. In return for being involved as a street team member for the comedy tour, I was offered 2 free tickets. Foremost, as we know in order to have a successful show, venues must provide practical event parking. Parking is usually never an issue at Consol Energy Center. With the lot open for public parking where Mellon Arena once stood and private lots along 5th Avenue, there's usually never an issue. However, the closer the lot is to the venue, the more it costs. On average from what I have noticed from other major events at Consol Energy Center, the average cost to park in these lots is $15-20 dollars.
Students should not feel the anxiety of being late to class based on the CSUF parking issues. Tardiness often suggests that students could be lazy or show lack of care for their education. On the other hand, tardiness may be different at a school similar to CSUF. Titan students will quickly learn that they must show up to school an hour early in order to find a parking space, if they are lucky. Due to students not being capable of finding a parking space on time, they are generally tardy to their college courses. In this case, student’s education should not be affected due to parking issues. However, colleges are not as impacted in the summer, therefore, students should not be expected to worry about finding an open location to park. Although, several students may have disagreed that the parking lot tends to be impacted in the summer as well. For example, I attend a summer course for English, having
...here they need to go. This makes kids late, the times ranging from forty five minutes to two hours, if the bus comes at all. All of these are major concerns, the interference with summer plans, the length of our summer, and the conditions of the roads, are significant concerns.
Let’s start with the students. Every day the students have 9 class periods every day not only that but they have the exact same classes every day. Can you imagine having to go to the same classes every day? Not to mention the fact that Tuacahn has an 8 hour days! The issue at hand is that Duquesne University students are displeased with the transportation services available to them specifically the SGA Loop Bus. I believe Matt Liberatore speaks for the majority of students when he commented (about the Loop Bus) saying, “It is not as effective as it should be. They’re inconsistent, and aren’t enough prevalent as they should be.” Problems were evident from the beginning of its existence. The Loop Bus is a free service to students of Duquesne University that runs Friday and Saturday beginning at 5:00 in the evening and ending as early as 12:30 and as late as 2:30am. This leads to many cases of being stranded in unfamiliar places throughout the city. Matt also commented on how was inconvenienced during his freshman and sophomore years where he remembers waiting hours until another bus would come because the previous was too small.
In conclusion, the school should solve the housing problems for students regarding cost and small dormitories. To do so, the school should contract with apartments near Seattle central or extend the small dormitory. Furthermore, the school should stand up for student’s positions. The school should acknowledge the necessities of needing to improve these problems. If these problems are solved, students can put all their effort into studying and the school can retain competent students.
The UCA’s police department has 27 sworn officers who work to promote safety on campus. To maximize safety on campus lock your doors when ever you leave, walk in well lighted areas at night when walking with friends. If desired a UCA police will escort you on campus. All exterior doors are locked 24 hours a day for your protection so do not prop open the doors. Refrain from or minimize the use of alcohol. There needs to be additional parking on campus made for those visiting the campus and also for students, faculty already has reserved parking; however the limited amount of parking on campus is forcing students and visitors to reserved faculty lots. Our school is limited in funding for certain projects such adding additional parking to solve the parking problem on campus. The student body should take responsibility for the raising of these funds to build additional parking on campus. The rising sophomore class should organize fund raising events to build additional parking on campus.
While studying or even registering for a class presents a challenge to some college students, the greatest obstacle remains, going to class. Attending college is supposed to signify a new found freedom to make many important choices regarding education without high school mandatory attendance policies. However, students everywhere are coming to the staggering realization that college is not too different from high school. Teachers still take class roll and students are still expected to be at every class on time. What next, hall monitors in the hall? The time has come for action to be taken. Colleges must abolish mandatory student attendance policies for several reasons to be further discussed.
As the roads are very busy nowadays, the public transportation disciplines are safety. Waiting at a bus can be a little risky and unsafe because students can be in a vulnerable location. Some of the bus stops are hidden, so not many college students are going to be around that area. This is a safety concern because students must know what is happening around their surroundings. A good suggestion of safety always brings a cell phone or a partner, especially taking the bus at night time. Moreover, buses are always crowded on a regular daily basic, and most of the time students might have to put up with being very close to abnormal
Time management is one of the most crucial factors to college success for every student in college. Firstly, while living on campus, time usually isn’t an issue to students because they live on school grounds. There are many advantages that come with time and one of them is getting to class on time. However, this is actually the opposite for commuters because getting to class on time is quite a struggle. They have to struggle to wake up earlier than usual in order to use the public transportation. Students living on campus also have more access to on-site facilities because they don’t have to worry about going home so there is no time limit on how long they occupy these areas. An example is staying in the library because this is where you can get help from tutors on subjects you are struggling with. Also, they can use the writing center for as long as it is open without worrying about time. In contrast, commuters are limited to the use of these facilities because they have to take time into consideration while staying at the library or work...
