Small Acts of Kindness We live in a world today that is filled with so many negatives. When you think of a topic that matters or has a large impact on the world, what comes to mind: disease, terrorism, maybe poverty (pathos)? In contrast, I want to focus on one of the positive aspects of our world, because in a world where so many people are fixated on what is going wrong, we sometimes need to be uplifted by what is going right (parallelism). Surprisingly, something as simple as kindness can help turn our society in a more positive direction. I know that it may be hard to believe that kindness, something that takes little effort, can have such an effect (anticipate an objection), yet the impact of kindness can be incredible. The question is, if kindness is so easy, why isn’t our society filled with kindness(rhetorical question)? It is time to start. It is time to start complimenting people you pass in the hallways. It is time to start smiling at people who seem like they have had a rough day. It is time to start giving people a little bit of light in their day because you never know the impact it may have (anaphora). Kindness is easy, but it is meaningful and powerful. Everyone should regularly perform small acts of kindness because kindness spreads, has an extraordinary impact, and is scientifically proven to help the health and happiness of people who act kindly
