Fetal abortions can cause major physical harm to the patient’s body; and those who are lucky enough not to be physically harmed by abortion, are emotionally and mentally scarred by them. However, there are people who support this harmful and immoral act of life taking. Their views and reasons however, do not change the fact that abortion is immoral and should be made illegal.
When a pregnant woman puts herself in the position to have an abortion, she is putting her life in danger, as well as her physical being. “Legal abortion is reported as the fifth leading cause of maternal death in the United States” (Elliot Institute), and in J.N. Butler’s Medical Aspects of Abortion, he says that, Tardieu alone records seventy women who died out of one hundred cases, and in spontaneous cases, death may occur from hemorrhage, shock, peritonitis, septicemia, etc. (Butler, J.N.). The other physical harms of abortion are cervical, ovarian, and liver cancer (Elliot Institute). Also, the risk of breast cancer almost doubles after an abortion and the chances of getting it grows even more for every abortion after the first (Elliot Institute). Abortion also, because of it’s damaging of the cervical and the uterine, greatens the risk of handicapped newborns in later pregnancies, and it causes behavioral changes such as promiscuity, smoking, drug abuse, and eating disorders (Elliot Institute). ...ortion, which is supported be abortion supporters, is where the baby is completely birthed except for the baby’s head, and then the doctor makes an incision in the back of the baby’s head and suctions the brain out. The definition of abortion is “The expulsion of a human fetus within the first twelve weeks of pregnancy, before it is viable” (Stein, Jess). These partial birth abortions are done when the fetus is completely viable, and done after the first twelve weeks of pregnancy. Some of these partial birth abortions are even done at the ninth month of pregnancy.
Even though these pro-abortionists make very good points, none of the points justify the killing of the innocent. In the end, abortion is murder; and murder is immoral and illegal. To solve these unnecessary and immoral killings, any form of abortion should be illegal and punishable, just as killing is.
