The Key to Successful Society
The definition of community is varied among many individuals. However, community is a sense of cohesiveness among a group of people. For generations, community has played a pivotal role in the success of a functioning society. These associations are common in almost every country worldwide and can often be discovered with diverse backgrounds, cultures, and institutions. Alongside having the proper resources, a community has the support to provide people the essentials to be prosperous in society. When the sense of a community is strong, it benefits the contemporary society; grants camaraderie, helps an individual discover who they are, and prevents isolation that can occur due to a detachment from others.

In “How Social Media is Ruining Politics” Carr states that “social media is used to connect with the public” (Carr). Many different types of social media are used for this like Periscope, Snapchat, Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook. Periscope is an application where live videos are streamed and anyone can view the broadcasts posted. Snapchat is an application where pictures, videos, or chats are taken and hen deleted a few seconds after that person sees the Snapchat. Twitter an online news and social application where people post and read short memos called "tweets". YouTube is a site where people around the world share videos that can be seen by anyone. Finally, Facebook is a website that makes it easy to share what is going on in someone’s life and make a connection between people. These resources help give people the connection everyone desires. It is people and their different beliefs that form a community. A community may be defined as a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests and goals. Although each and every community divaricates from the next, each holds a common base ground for tradition and standard. It is in fact tradition and standards of behavior that unify a community to implement a sense of stability. After all, stability is the inescapable quality that bonds a community as one. This imperative factor is in fact one that is investigated in a hopeless quest to find the true meaning of community and its gravitational pull of mankind. The assumption that a community, in essence, exudes a sense of stability may be refuted in three key limitations. Entrusting too much of one’s faith in tradition and community standards can lead to the ultimate dissolution of a community’s health. Furthermore, dwelling on the act of maintaining the tradition and standards of that community can lead to downfall of one’s own being, and individuality. At the cost of the community as a whole, proceeding to maintain these traditions and standards is in the least bit ideal, as values and traditions are ever evolving and most commonly outdated in future composition. Global and local communities seek the greatest opportunities for prosperity and self-fulfillment, but there exists certain criteria that must be met in order to achieve those ends. The most successful communities incorporate the inherent values and virtues of a specific group of people. Communities ought to establish goals to be attained by their members, giving them a sense of cohesion and cooperation. How would someone define the word community? A community could be anything. If one were to listen to an everyday conservation, the word community, would probably be used very little. The word community has multiple meanings, ranging from communist or socialistic society (Emerson) to the quality of appertaining to or being held by all in common (Oxford).
While with the constant use of these social technologies, less people are communicating in person, this type of technology might be doing more harm than good because with the rise of websites such as Facebook, social networking may be on the verge of replacing traditional personal interactions for the next generation. Social networks were created for the sole purpose of helping individuals communicate. There are many other reasons that these technologies are used, but communication is still the number one. It is not only changing how we communicate, but how we interact with each other in daily life. Supporters of social networking sites say that the online communities promote increased interaction with friends and family and offer teachers, librarians, and students valuable access to educational support and materials.
A Community can be defined as a group of people who don’t just live in the same area, but also share the same interests, experiences and often concerns about the area in which they live. Often when individuals have lived on a street or in an area for a while they become familiar with each other and the issues surrounding them. Children often attend the same schools and grow up together, again sharing similar experiences. In some instances adults may work together, and quite commonly all community members will share the same doctors, dentists, hospitals, health visitors and other public services and facilities.

Our lives have become so busy that it is difficult to maintain family and social relationships. “They use social networking sites including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc. On these sites users create profiles, communicate with friends and strangers, do research and share thoughts, photos, music, links and more” (Social Networking). With the use of social media you can be friends with all sorts of people without actually seeing or knowing them. “In many ways, social communities are the virtual equivalent of meeting at the general store or at church socials to exchange news and get updated on friends and families” (Cosmato).
Social media can be used in our days as a very helpful tool for many things in changing any person’s life ant attitude. It has a positive impact on the society level. These media will keep the person socially active and open to all what happened in the world. Sharing the latest news, photos, finding new friends and knowing the culture. Also, it allows for millions to keep in touch with each other and update for all the new technology. And, it helps people who have difficulties in communication with others to be more socialized and stronger and develop more confidence to feel more comfortable, protected and relaxed just sitting behind a screen. “It saved me time and money without ever requiring me to leave the house; it salvaged my social life, allowed me to conduct interviews as a reporter and kept a lifeline open to my far-flung extended family” says Leonard(231).
