Kashmir: The Unresolved Issue

1485 Words3 Pages

It has been around 19 years; I have grown up watching the news, listening to the radio about the poor voice of Kashmiris who have been kept hostage for over half a century. Who has been violence by none other than our so called friend Bharat, who has acted sarcastically with Kashmir.

When we talk about the role of Pakistan in this core issue, so we don’t see actually any major role but yes we do arrange the rallies, we form human chains; we arrange exhibitions, We arrange seminars, we do talk about the change but never by our heart, we regularly watch many leaders making their fake promises especially on the Kashmir day. Actually Pakistan neither compromise its own position on the Kashmir question not allowed any prejudice to the right of self determination of the people of Kashmir. Since India has been characterized by rivalry act in suspicion although many issues divide the two countries, the most sensitive one since independence has been the status of Kashmir.

Since it’s an issue of not only Pakistan but for also for Bharat. More than any other region, it is the people of south Asia, especially Pakistan and Bharat, who need a sustainable peace and stable progress the most and this will remain exclusive as long as their leader and governments don’t Resolve the core dispute of Kashmir.

Kashmir is not the only unresolved issue, but it is the most important one. Once the negotiating process on Kashmir makes a credible headway, the settlement of other issues will automatically follow. It is true that all unresolved issues in the Pakistan-India relationships may take place months, or even years, to settle in a manner that suits the two sides.

Following the January 2004 Islamabad-new Delhi rapprochement , and with the resumption of composite dialogue covering Kashmir and other unresolved issues, one hopes the Kashmir history may turn full circle soon. However, for this to happen, the Indian leadership has to show some courage and boldness in responding sincerely to Pakistani leadership's recent overtures on Kashmir. The roadmap for peace that the foreign secretary level talks in February produced includes a schedule for discussing siachen letter in the year. A Siachen settlement, for which a precedent in the shape of an accord is already available, will surely serve as a catalyst for the Kashmir settlement. In Kashmir’s' context, the only solution that should be ruled out is doing nothing. Time will not heal the Kashmir problem. Time has made things worse in Kashmir.
