It all started when I went to swimming in a gym. At that time, I saw a karate class in progress when I passed by. I signed up the class soon afterwards because my curiosity. At first, I was surprise there were so many formalities and meditation besides the training in karate. Few weeks later, I had a discussion with my coach he told me that our training in that way was meant to both practices our mind and body. I did not fully understand the real meaning at first, but after I was familiar with my training I began to realize that the physical training was meant to develop the qualities self-improvement and diligence, while the formalities and meditation was meant to teach us respect and humility. The teachings from my karate class influenced me in many aspects. Ever since I started my karate class, I found improvements in my attitude and began to value people around me in a different perspective. The endurance and strength exercise at the end of each class was especially exhausted, but I persisted and endured until finish each time with my belief “I can do it.” In school, I devote myself into the academic study with greater effort. I usually devote myself to accomplish the extra credit part in my computer projects. Sometimes, I also do some researches about the topic that professor mention in the book or in class. I appreciate my teammates for their effocts that allow me to practice techniques and make progress. In return, I always guide my newly joined teammates to understand the ways of karate. In school, I contribute my knowledge to assistant other students with their homework problems. I used to be an impatient person who sometimes did not willingly help others, and occasionally I gave up easily. However, I am gl... ... middle of paper ... ...ascinated by my assembly language class professor with his clearly explanations of the basic algorithm of computer. The unique features in assembly language class sparked me many new thoughts. In assembly language, programmer has to plan every move carefully in advance because program runs follow instructions strictly one by one. The progress reflects the philosophy of computing, and I sometimes apply the logic into my other science subjects which also provide me some help in solving the problems. In addition, I joined the computer science after class club and learned about some UNIX operating systems and basic skills in HTML and PHP. I enjoy every courses regardless the hardness. As my academic path comes across a turning point, I am preparing for any challenges in the future. I believe I can handle any challenges and master the knowledge in the coming future.
The primary, and much older, contributor to the start of martial arts was the religion of
Before earning my black belt, I never saw myself as someone who could accomplish great things. I always undermined myself by not using my full potential. I rarely tried to prove myself correct when someone else shot down my statement because I did not know I had the tenacity to take action.
To a person not conversant with this art, Jujitsu may be considered as a foul or derogatory term in Japanese. However, Jujitsu us one of the most effective and deadly forms of martial arts taught today. Unique among other forms of combat, Jujitsu holds the position of a “parent art”, of from which other forms of martial arts such as Aikido, Judo and several Karate styles were extracted. Jujitsu is a combination of all levels of combat. It incorporates chokes, striking, grappling, nerve and pressure point attacks, joint locks, redirection of momentum and throws.
Martial arts, more specifically Goju Ryu, played an important role in my life and has taught me various things, both mentally and physically. Goju Ryu or hard-soft style in English, is a style of Martials arts and it
karate dojo in 1946, headed what became the most sizably voluminous international karate federation in history, and trained many of America's top karate competitors. He was by turns fatherly, arrogant, outgoing and secretive, and had associated himself at one time or another with virtually every consequential karate master in Japan. Corroborating sources for much of his personal history are fragmentary (as with much of the history of karate in general) and his daughter, Dr. Roberta Trias-Kelley, a superb martial artist to whom he bequeathed leadership of the system upon his death in 1989, perpetuates to edify Shuri-ryu karate and sell her father’s publications from her headquarters dojo, Trias Karate, in Phoenix, Arizona.
“To conquer frustration, one must remain intensely focused on the outcome, not the obstacles.” I still remember this quote from Within I Rise by T.F. Hodge because this specific quote has helped me through my long and winding journey toward the black-belt. It started with my friend in fifth grade showing me what he learned in karate class the day before, and me asking my mother if I could join. My brother and I went to our first class and I instantly fell in love with the sparring, grappling, fighting combinations, self-defense, and of course, learning to use nunchucks. It was not long before I had my eye on the black-belt, but there were many obstacles ahead. Less than one percent of all students at my karate school end up getting to
This will prove to be especially important as I move on to college, and as I embark on my journey of being a student athlete at the University of Nevada Reno. I know that being a student athlete will be challenging in the sense that I will have so many obligations and so little time; however, this mentality will further help me achieve my goals both athletically and academically, as I refuse to settle for anything less that what I am capable of achieving. I know that at times it will be tough, but I also know that quitting is not an option. If I were to stop in the middle of a race right when it got tough, I would never be able to experience the triumph of finishing. In the end, the glory of the fight is one of the most rewarding elements of
Martial arts encourage violence. It allows people the opportunity to pick on other people who don’t know the art. It gives the one who knows it an upper hand against everybody else. If the wrong people learn this art we could all be in trouble. They would go around terrorizing everything and body.
I’ve always had a passion for helping others and I love the idea of being considered a dependable person. I enjoy when others come to me to talk about the hardship they are experiencing and being able to provide them with feedback or helpful advice. To do this I learned that you need to have the characteristics of a “people person”. You must be patient, which from my job experience of working in retail and the fast food industry, I would consider myself to be a highly patient person. I also posses the the skill of being outgoing and friendly. I allow myself to be comfortable when speaking with different types of people and I let myself open up so I can personally relate to them. By doing this I believe that others will return the comfort that I created and will want
A fascination for Science & Technology and keen interest in the ever-growing world of technology motivated me to take up engineering. The power of research and delivering it for the growth of Society is what makes me interested in the technology side of science. I choose to major Computer science Engineering with an intense urge to delve into this challenging field. During my under graduation program I learned the various fundamentals of Computer science Engineering which together with practical course works reinforced my interest.
Martial arts classes and training consist of lessons and drills to improve strength, speed, cardio, footwork, and flexibility. The first martial art I ever learned was Taekwondo. Taekwondo strikes primarily include kicks, but also contain punches and chops. Learning Taekwondo increases speed, cardio, footwork and flexibility. Taekwondo is considered one of the more brutal mixed martial arts, it...
I took up Computer Science and Engineering as my discipline in Bhoj Reddy Engineering College for Women affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, one of the premier institutes in India. My undergraduate education has been a great learning and enriching process for me. It exposed me to all the core areas of Computer Science like operating systems, database management systems, networks and network security, data structures, algorithms and software engineering. These courses have given me a good foundation in the core concepts. My interest lies in Database Management, Programming Languages, Theory of Computation, and Software Engineering. I am fully acquainted with the fast growing subjects like Object Oriented Programming, Analysis and Design. On the other hand, the intensive laboratory classes exposed me to a fascinating world of experimentation. It was here that I discovered the qualities of perseverance and diligence in myself. I feel that these courses have done a lot to prepare me for my future studies and research work.
My undergraduate preparation at the Computer Science of my University has given me a very substantial knowledge of the basic areas of Computer Science. Any amount of learning in Computer Science would be incomplete without hands on experience of Programming. In a world where...
Most people get a sense of happiness from training under a martial art that they love and enjoy. Even when it gets hard, if you love what you are doing you will not feel the pain at all. Certain styles are supposed to enhance your spirituality through fluid movements such as taichi. Taichi in general is a very flowing and stress relieving activity. Unfortunately a lot of practitioners of martial arts have evolved it into a exercise, not a fighting/ self defending. This is all and good if that’s what you are looking for but spirituality is found in hardship, and in peace times. For me it’s a fundamental part of who I am and what I do. A lot of people that I know feel the same way. Once you get into it and push yourself to go, you will fully and truly love it. It’sust an amazing feeling to be able to trust your body, mind, and spirit to make the right decision, even in stressful situations or situations of great danger. You should be proud when you can use your art, whatever that may be, in your everyday life; You will be enlightened through martial arts. And that will carry to your everyday life The enlightenment of kung fu, karate, muay thai, wing chun, tai chi, they are great and they all have a purpose. Determination is the firmness of purpose, and that is what these styles and many more give you… a purpose. A purpose to do all of the things that you need to
After my twelfth grade, the inherent ardor I held for Computer Sciencemotivated me to do a bachelors degree in Information Technology. Programming and Math, a paragon of logic and reasoning have always been my favorite subjects since childhood. I still vividly remember the time during my graduation, when I was successful in creating a simple calculator application as a class assignment. The joy I derived from creating something that is used by a lot of people to help them perform complex calculations, made me realize the power of computing in its true sense. It was also in my graduation that I developed an immense interest in programming languages such as Java, C++ an...
