Who became the only artist to have five number one albums before turning 19 years old, the first person ever to reach a billion views on YouTube, and has made over 100 million dollars in less than three years, making him the most successful child star since Michael Jackson? No one other than Justin Bieber. Justin Bieber is the first to do many things, even by how he was discovered. What happens when a child star gets millions of dollars at such a young age, have to make adult decisions, and is forced to grow up in front of the spotlight? This downfall effect has destroyed and even taken the lives of some child stars. Will Bieber be the next train wreck? Justin Bieber’s early rise to the top has been impacted by social media, and now the same thing that brought him fame, is seeking to destroy him.

Justin Bieber was found in a very unique way, one of which had never happened before him. At age 12, Bieber started posting videos of himself singing onto a big social media sight, YouTube. These videos were posted so that his family members who lived far away, could still watch him as he competed on the television show “Stratford Idol.” When Justin noticed that he was getting more and more views, he decided to put more videos up of him singing for fun. Bieber even would take requests from people who asked him to sing a certain song. In 2008, a talent scout from Atlanta, named Scooter Braun accidentally clicked on one of Justin’s videos, which he was immediately impressed by. Braun had to stalk Bieber to try to get ahold of him, he called his aunts, his school, even his church just to try to contact young Bieber. Bieber released his second studio album Under the Mistletoe in November 2011, when it debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. The album received a Grammy award nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album at the 2011 ceremony. Then later in 2010, Bieber started dating actress and singer Selena Gomez. When all of this happened, that is when Bieber and everyone else realized he was at the top and rising ("Why Is Justin Bieber This Popular?").
