Justice in America Does justice exist in America? Yes, justice does exist in America, but for whom is the question real question. In America all citizens should feel equal to one another but that is not the case. Rather than feeling equal to one another, the blacks and whites of the country feel hatred to one another. In American justice is served but it is mainly for whites and not blacks. The word justice is defined as the quality of being fair and reasonable. Unfortunately in America, justice is not always equally served due to racism in the modern society. In America the function of the justice system is to protect citizens from harm and to punish offenders for the crimes they’ve committed. In the Fourth Amendment it states “the right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized” (US Const. amend. IV). Even with this right, many minorities in the nation suffer from racial profiling; the singling out of a person as the main suspect of a wrongdoing just because of their race. Many families have endured the departure of a friend or family member since police expected the suspect to be a risk just because of skin color therefore the officers utilize their power to take out the "danger". Even if racial profiling makes sense to police officers, to the eyes of the public and those affected by police actions, it is a form a racism that is not being served justice and it keeps allowing unfair deaths and …show more content…

In the Bill of Rights Amendment 6 says “U.S. citizens have the right to a fair and speedy trial” (US Bill of Rights. Amend. VI). As it can be seen, over the years the justice system does not follow that amendment in a lot of cases. In many circumstances the judicial system has been corrupt, the system more times than not punishes the minorities harsher than they do the whites. The courtrooms in the United States are filled with prejudice judges and prosecutors who do everything but serve blacks justice. In many case blacks often get unfair sentences while the whites get light sentences and sometimes not even face imprisonment. In recent news most of the Police officers that killed innocent blacks have not even faced punishments for the innocent lives they’ve taken. This here makes it seem like the officers of the law seem above the law. Even when blacks try to protest and speak out about the injustice and corruption in the judicial system it seems like it’s never going to
