What is the title and job description of the social worker? With a passion for helping others, Mr. Fred Mignone is a licensed clinical social work. He focuses on providing psychotherapy for adults with mental health issues such as depression, anxiety and grief. After fifteen years of experience, he has determined that he loves his work and will not retire as long as he is able to speak. Describe the agency or organization with whom he/she works? What type of agency is it? What is the mission of the agency? One of the best parts of Mr. Mignone’s career is that he is in private practice. What advice would he/she give you as a student preparing for social work practice? The best advice Mr. Mignone could give a student preparing for social work was to take full advantage of internships. He said many students don’t show the internships they are serious about the practice and do not realize that so many jobs come from those. He also mentioned to get out into the field and make sure it is a good fit while you are still in school and talk to more people in the profession to get their perspective on the field. What is the salary range for this type of social work position? Since he works in private practice he does not have a stable salary but gave some important insight. Salary range varies depending on how great of a load you take on, insurance, expenses and your degree. As an MSW he is only able to charge around eighty dollars a session for the most common insurance in this area, but if you pursue a doctorate you can bill insurance agencies as much as thirty to forty percent more.
