Gun Control Argument Essay

In America guns have been a part of the country since its birth. Throughout history, people of the US have used guns to protect our nation, their families, to hunt for food. The issue of guns and gun control takes on a fraction of problems in the world. Weighing the rights and liberties of individuals against the welfare and safety of the public has always been a risky balancing act. In the United States, gun control is one of these issues that has both sides firmly stated in their positions.

Those parties in favor of gun ownership and the freedom to use and keep weapons, rely on the fact that the facility for such rights is preserved in the constitution. In this climate of growing violence, common with chaos and crime, gun activists feel more than ever that their position is justified. As citizens of the “Land of the Free” owning a gun is an

Gun control does not prevent violent people, but makes the law-abiding citizens more susceptible. In the 1878 Arkansas case of Wilson v. State, a judge stated, “Common sense dictates that inanimate objects, such as guns, are not accountable for human behavior. We don’t hold a match liable for arson or a camera guilty for pornography. We hold the people who abuse these tools liable. The same should be true for guns.” To be blunt, it means that people kill people not inanimate (non-living) objects.

People are more leaned toward gun control or removal mainly because of the recent events of shootings done by students with emotional issues. That is not a fair enough argument. To put things into retrospective terms, if I jump off a bridge does that mean everyone will? No, what I am implying is that those kids needed help and being ignored or poorly tended to they chose poorly. I understand that it hurts to be ignored or alone but killing people who have hurt you isn’t the way to go and especially blaming it on “lack of gun
