The islamic culture has been using three main languages throughout history. “Arabic, Persian, and Turkish.” This is significant to the achievements of Islam because most of the Islamic culture knew how to read and write. Another achievement in the Islamic culture is poetry. Poetry was a very big part of Islam. According to (World Cultures a Global Mosaic) poetry has been around even before islam was formed. These poems were not only for entertainment, they could also be used to insult their enemies, show their love, and talk about topics like war. This is also significant because these small short stories led to things like books. Another Islamic achievement that shaped the Islamic culture was the arts. “The Quran forbids the worship of idols, many muslims and their religious leaders opposed the portrayal of human or animal images.” This means that the Quran didn’t let Muslims praise their “idols.” As an alternative the Muslims painted, or created pictures or murals of their “idols.” Also, an art called calligraphy which is a lot of elegant ways of writing was used in the Islamic Culture. It grew rapidly, and became a very popular part of the Islamic Culture. Calligraphy is still used at events like weddings to this very day. One of the biggest Islamic achievements was Islamic Architecture. For example they built mosques, which is a building in which they worship. Also, due to some help from the “Byzantine Empire Muslims” were very experienced “in building domes.” An example of a dome is “Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem.” The dome of the Rock in Jerusalem is so significant because it was, “The first work of Islamic Architecture.” Also, more groundbreaking Islamic architecture is the “palaces built by...

Muslims would have created in the beginning of islam. Islamic culture was their mathematics. Believe it or not, the “decimal system,” actually was created by Muslims. The reason I say believe it or not is because you wouldn’t think that any culture at the time would come up with such a complex numeric system. The decimal system is used in almost every mathematical equation we use today. For example the place value of the numbers/how you say them all comes from this system. This system has a huge effect on the entire world and it all started out with the Islamic culture. “The muslims also played a big part in the creation of Trigonometry.”

Different religions have shaped the cultural landscapes throughout history. In most religions, they have what is known as a sacred site. Many of the sacred sites are near the founding of the religion or near a place where something significant had once occurred. The followers of these religions often build temples to worship their gods. One example, would be the Dome of the Rock, where Muhammad, a prophet of God in the Muslim culture, said to have ascended into heaven.The Dome of the Rock is a masterpiece of Islamic architecture and is the "Noble Sanctuary" by Muslims. The place of worship for Muslims is known as the mosque, but the Dome of the Rock is much more iconic and would be best identified as a Muslim shrine. Less than one hundred years after Muhammad’s death in 632, Islam spread across the known world like a wildfire, from the banks of the Indus River to the Pyrenees in Spain. Part of the reasons why the new religion was able to expand at such a meteoric rate was its power to unify preexisting cultures with the teachings of the new religion through the beautiful vocal nature of the Quran. Architecture was another element that was deployed to exalt both the political and religious greatness of the Islamic empires as “there is no essential difference between spiritual and secular art in Islam” (Burckhardt 208). Throughout the periods of expansion and of permanent existence of the Islamic empires, architecture encompassed many of the ideals that the new nation offered. It was adaptable to distinct cultures, remained true to its original roots, and drew upon its vast cultural resources to come up with new ways to express itself. Islam is one of the largest religions existing today, with a total of about 1.6 billion1 followers, according to Pew Research Center. The sheer immensity of people following this religion is staggering, but the influence that Islam has had on world history is even more important. Without Muslim advances in areas such as math, science, and medicine, the western world wouldn’t have existed.
Religious Islamic architecture is intricately related to Muslim prayer which is an obligation to do every day. The Dome of the Rock was said to be the first great Islamic building. The Muslims had taken the city of Jerusalem in 638 created the shrine of worship to commemorate the event and the triumph of Islam. The Dome of the rock, similar to the Acropolis, was built atop holy ground. Called the Noble Enclosure, the site was where the Hebrews built the Temple of Solomon. As time went on, the site grew additional importance, as it was said to be the location of Adam’s Grave and the spot in which Isaac was supposed to be sacrificed by his father Abraham. The conception of the Islamic civilization drew much attention in Arabia. In 600 C.E., the rise of this new empire helped its people improve in all studies of sciences and culture. The ability to spread teachings and customs throughout an entire area could not be easily obtained, therefore they used extended force and violence to take control of lands. In 610 C.E, when Muhammed was met by the angel Gabriel and accustomed his beliefs to those of God, the devotion of Muhammed's followers increased at a rapid rate. Following the death of Muhammed in 632 C.E., the civilization expanded very rapidly through momentous success both by converting nonbelievers to Islam and military conquests of opponents. From the Near East comes the Old Babylonian account of the life and death of GILGAMESH. There was a real Gilgamesh, a king who ruled some 2700 years before Christ lived and the Romans consolidated their vast empire. The character and the exploits of this king were preserved in the form of stories that circulated for many years after the king's death. Some of these tales -- more than 600 years after Gilgamesh's rule -- were collected by a story teller and were put down in the form of an epic poem. This poem is what we know today as The Epic of Gilgamesh.
As the Qur’an was written in Arabic, it created a common language in the Islamic empire, making communication and trade easier. The economy benefited from the increase in trade which spread goods as well as Islamic ideas, culture, and knowledge. Islam attracted many scholars to big cities like Baghdad, where they studied at the House of Wisdom — a library and academy that included a huge collection of books and manuscripts in a variety of languages. Religion also gave rise to new discoveries such as the invention of the lunar calendar and astronomy because Muslims needed to know the direction of Mecca in order to complete their pilgrimage. Similar to Islam influencing the east, Christianity also shaped medieval Europe.
There are lots of different arts found in the world (for example, the catholic, Paleolithic, Hindus, etc…). One which captured most of my attention is the Islamic art. It’s not just the figure of its arts that amused me, but the way it was made, the history it created and it’s Perfection. Islamic art isn’t just a term to describe the art created specifically in the service of the Muslims, ( for example a masjid and its fittings) but it also symbolizes the art and architecture produced historically on the lands ruled by the Muslims. It is not only a religion but a way of life, by having their own artistic language that reflects their art and architecture.
The Islamic Golden Age began in the 7th century to the end of the 13th century. The Islamic Golden age is the era in which the Muslims created one of the largest empires. The Golden Ages started with the Prophet Muhammad. There were two Islamic Golden Ages. The first Golden Age lasting about two centuries from the 7th century to the 9th century. In the first Golden Age, society is being integrated in political, social, and moral dimensions in Islam (Lapidus 14). The second Golden Age lasted about five centuries from the 9th century to the 14th century. There are many different variations commonly based on a particular individual’s country of origin such as Arab Americans. Other variations are based on their social class, the level of their education, if they live urbanely or rurally, or the time they have spent in the United States (Lipson & Dubble, 2007). Most Arabs also practice Islamic religion and are Muslim. When working with an Arab or Muslim client, nurses should ask what the client wishes to be referred to so as not to offend them in any way (Lipson & Dubble, 2007).
On the board on Monday morning, there were numbers one through five and they each had a religion written next to them. 1 was Hinduism, 2 was Christianity, 3 was Judaism, 4 was Buddhism, and I was lucky enough to get 5: Islam. Oh, I know so much about Islam culture and their religion, are you kidding? I don’t even know where Islam is. I’m just kidding, it’s not a country. There are many differences between Islam and the United states like our religion, clothes, and food, and becoming a Christian or a Muslim, but Islam is the second largest religion in the world, so it’s important to a lot of people. The followers of Islam are called Muslims. Becoming a Muslim is not an easy process. You must do a long list of tasks. After you become a Muslim you must do everything in your power to try to have a good Muslim lifestyle.
The Achievements of The Islamic Civilization Islam, one of the most successful religions was started by Muhammad in Arabia and had a massive impact on the world. If it weren't for Islam the world would have been a very different place to live in. Muslims didn't always invent things; sometimes they improved on other people's inventions e.g. the number system, the astrolabe and much more. The first Muslims were Arabs and they went on to conquer many countries.
