One billion people from a vast range of races, nationalities and cultures across the globe from the southern Philippines to Nigeria are united by their common Islamic faith. The world's largest Muslim community is in Indonesia and about 18% live in the Arab world. Substantial parts of Asia and most of Africa are Muslim. Significant minorities are found in the Soviet Union, China, North and South America, and Europe. Islam is not a new religion, but the same truth that God revealed through all His prophets to every people. Islam is not just a religion but also a complete way of life and is made up of a fifth of the world's population. Muslims follow a religion of peace, mercy, and forgiveness, and the majority have nothing to do with the extremely grave events which have come to be associated with their faith. Muslims believe in One, Unique, Incomparable God and in the Angels created by him. Also that their are prophets through whom his revelations were brought to mankind. They believe in the Day of Judgment and that each individual is accountable for their own actions. Also that God has complete authority over human destiny and there is life after death. In Islam there is a chain of prophets starting with Adam and including Noah, Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Job, Moses, Aaron, David, Solomon, Elias, Jonah, John the Baptist, and Jesus. It is believed that peace is upon all of the prophets. But God's final message to man, a reconfirmation of the eternal message and a summing- up of all that has gone before was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad through Gabriel. In Islam the Qur ’ an is a holy record of the exact words revealed by God through the Angel Gabriel to the Prophet Muhammad. It was memorized by Muhammad thendictate...

...ation. Muslims believe that by cutting oneself off from worldly comforts, even for a short period of time, a fasting person gains true sympathy with those who go hungry as well as growth in one's spiritual life. The annual pilgrimage also known as the Hajj to Makkah is an obligation only for those who are physically and financially able to perform it. Nevertheless, about two million people go to Makkah each year from every corner of the globe providing a unique opportunity for those of different nations to meet one another. Although Makkah is always filled with visitors, the annual Hajj begins in the twelfth month of the Islamic year (which is lunar, not solar, so that Hajj and Ramadan fall sometimes in summer, sometimes in winter). The pilgrims wear special clothes: simple garments which strip away distinctions of class and culture, so that all stand equal before God.
The Hajj or pilgrimage to Makkah is one of the five pillars of Islam "arkan-al-Islam”- Its purpose is essentially to facilitate the act of submission to Allah which is pinnacle to all followers of Islam. "Perform the pilgrimage and the visit [to Mecca] for Allah" Surah 2:196. It has enormous significance, not only for the pilgrim undertaking the Hajj but also for the wider Muslim community, the Umma, as it allows for all individuals to gain unification of faith.
Ritual fasting is obligatory during the month of Ramadan. Muslims must abstain from food and drink from dawn to dusk during this month, and are supposed to be especially mindful of other sins. The fast is meant to allow Muslims to seek nearness and to look for forgiveness from God, to express their gratitude to and dependence on him, and to atone for their past sins.
Judaism, the religion of the Jews, is one of the oldest religions in the world. Judaism in fact, is the oldest of the three major religions that believe in a single God. The other two, Christianity and Islam have been strongly influence by Judaism, which is a big part of western civilization today. In the beginning, Jews were a tribe, a band of nomads, more than likely shepherds that may have died out if they would have remained merely shepherds. Jews were one of many “nations” to be found in the ancient Near East.
Religion has existed since the dawn of civilization and over time has evolved into the religions we have today. Today the most prominent religions are monotheistic, having one omnipotent god, and despite having many differences they share basic tenets of respect and kindness. Religions, such as Judaism, give explanations for the unknown, provide hope, and bring about a sense of community.
Islam is a religion that is based on the submission oneself to the will of God, who is called Allah. Muslims are the people believe in that, regardless of their culture, background or ethnicity. It is believed that God’s prophets brought a message for the people to worship one God without intermediaries and that prophet Muhammad was the end of G...
Out of the many interesting religions of the Far East Islam has quite a uniqueness to it. The name, Islam stems from the word “salam,” that means peace. The word “Muslim,” which means a follower of Islam, refers to a person who submits him or her self to the will of God. Many religious experts believe that the prophet Muhammad founded Islam in the year 622 CE. Muhammad was believed to have lived from 570-632 CE. This particular religion started when the angel Jibreel read the first revelation to Muhammad. We know already that the followers of Islam are called Muslims. The Muslims believe in the “one true God,” which they call Allah.
The Hajj is the fifth pillar of Islam, and is required of every Muslim who has the means to go (Ahmed and Balaban). It is a pilgrimage to the Islamic holy land, a chance to walk in the footsteps of the Prophets Ibrahim and Muhammad. It is a statement of faith and dedication to Islam that thousands of Muslims experience each year that strengthens their connection to Allah.
Muslims have six major beliefs. They believe in one God (Allah). They believe in the angels. They believe in the holy books sent to all the prophets including Torah that was revealed to the prophet Moses, Bible that was reavealed to the prophet Jesus, and Qur'an that was revealed to the prophet Muhammad. They believe in all the prophets sent by God including Noah, Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad. Although Muslims believe in Isa or Jesus they do not think of Jesus as the Son of God the way Christians do. They believe in the Day of Judgement and life after death. The best reward for performing good deeds in getting closer to God. They believe in a divine decree. This means that God is all-powerful and nothing can happen
Islam is also a monotheistic religion that believes there is one God. Islam is based on the teachings and normative example of Muhammad, who is considered to be the last prophet of God . People who follow the Islam faith are called Muslims. The Qur’an is the central text of the Islam faith, and Muslims believe it to be a revelation from God. There are two main denominations of Islam. There is Sunni, which is the largest denomination making up 75-90% of all Muslims and Shia, which is the second largest branch with 10-20%.
Muslims believe that the absolute deity is Allah. However, they also believe that there was a string of prophets sent by God to teach his word. The last of these prophets was Muhammad. His life is used as a foundation for Muslims to see how they are supposed to live and to help explain the teachings of the holy book of Islam, which is called Holy Qur’an. These teachings are said to have been revelations that Muhammad received that confirmed the God’s unity and the direct life in the world.
Islam is often viewed as a religious tradition which originates from the seventh century. An important part of Islam is based on the prophet Muhammad, and the great revelations in which he received from God, according to the Quran. However, it is most important to realize that Muslims do not view Islam as a new religion. Muslims believe that Allah is the same God who revealed himself to Abraham, Moses, and Jesus. Therefore, Jews, Christians, and Muslims are all followers of the same living God. Muslims believe that the Quran is the final and complete revelation of God to all people. It is not easy for some people to accept the fact that God exists when there have been so many throughout history. You cannot also say if someone’s religion is right or wrong or the God they believe in is a “Supreme” god. Why Islam and not Christianity? Why Hinduism and not Judaism? Every one of them different and they vary from one another; they have different rules and are all passionate about their belief. But the fact still remains that there is one who is above all and he is God. God is Omnipresent, omnipotent, and Benevolent.

Muslim civilization played a significant role in the history of the world and continues to have quiet an influence on the modern world . Today, there are over 1 billion Muslims all over the world: more than 40 countries are members of the organization of the Islamic Conference. There are many Muslim diasporas in Europe, around 15 million people , and around 6 million people in the United States.
