Taking into account the Quran teaching on “what is Islam”, we see how Allah plays a very important role in the life of a Muslim. Allah along with his prophet Mohammed play a huge role influencing the Muslim society but one may ask how is this is done. Firstly, Islam has become the second largest religion in world due to the influence of Allah and his prophet Mohammed on their followers. The Muslim community is greatly misunderstood in our modern time, therefore using the information and knowledge from passages in the Quran, the positive aspect of Muslim can be understood.
The word ‘Islam” means “submission to God” therefore a Muslim is one who submits their lives to one God. Islam is a very popular religion across the globe as it was spread at the beginning by long distance travelers who used camels and horses. The religion was also spread through the rewards one received for entering and committing to the umma. Founded in 610. A.D by Mohammed, Islam has been a growing religion ever since. Polytheism reigned during Mohammed’s time as people worshipped many gods. This was until he had a vision on one of his trips as a trader where he saw an angel who said there is only one God, Allah, worship him. Muslims believe Allah is all knowing, all powerful, merciful and forgiving. The Quran was the holy book which Muslims followed. The Quran told the Muslim community (umma) to read three other holy books along with the Quran.
Who really is Allah, many people outside of Muslim society may ask. Allah is the single most important person in the Islamic world. The Muslim name for God is Allah, and the Quran states Allah is one, one who is unique. The Quran frequently highlights strict monotheism. Allah expects a lot from the Muslim community ...

...dy. The following pillar is the fast of Ramadan where each believer takes part in daylight fasting in the 9th month of the Islamic calendar. The five and last pillar is the pilgrimage to mecca once in a lifetime during the 12th month of the Islamic calendar.
Allah had great influence in another area of society regarding warfare. Allah’s prophet Mohammed stated strictly that the killing of innocent people was forbidden. Islam is a religion which rejects terrorism. The modern day focus on jihad had changed views greatly on the Muslim society. Jihad followers fight to defend Muslims, while preaching Islam so media in this century focus more on this concept of jihad whereas Muslim do not. Muslims focus on the jihad which provides aid for Muslims in society. The Quran wants to send a message highlighting that violence and cruelty are not in the hearts of true Muslims.
