What is Islam, and where did it come from? What is this religion all about? Islam is not the new kid on the block in regards to religion. Islam is in fact an old, ancient religion. It is not that unlike of the Christian faith either; in fact, Islamic beliefs are in the Torah, which is Jewish, and also in the bible, which is Christian. The book that Islam goes by is called the Qur’an, which is the story of the Muslim Prophet Mohammad, Who is the founder of the Islamic faith and is believed to be the last of the prophets of God. Practitioners of Islam are referred to as Muslims, and their place of worship is a mosque, which is similar to the Christians place of worship which is the church. Though there have been some very serious and unfortunate events in the news that have transpired to fuel this misunderstanding, such terror attacks like 9/11 and the more recent European attacks on Paris and Brussels, what much of western society does not realize is that Islam is fundamentally a very peaceful religion. ...ruthful and gave advice. These texts are seen as complements to the Qur’an, (Rahim, 2013) (Qureshi, 2011). Aka, how professors would say “supplemental readings.”
Islamic law, mentioned previously, is referred to as the term Sharia. Sharia covers subjects like commerce, marriage, war, civil law, and a multitude of other things that a person may or will most likely encounter in their life path. Sharia also describes how Muslims should love their wives. The Sharia sets principals that help make decisions in law. Today it is a hot issue, since it involved many prohibitions and commands about the right way to live human life. It also includes many provisions that apply to people who are not Muslim. In general the Sharia warns of severe penalties, including death, but also particularly so for those who are not Muslim. It is not a democratic system of Law. (Jansen, 2015)

Essay on The Doctrines And Beliefs Of Christianity And Islam

- While examining and comparing the doctrines and beliefs of both Christianity and Islam, it is important to compare each other’s viewpoint on the gospel, sin, and salvation in order to clearly see the major differences between the two religions. For Christians, salvation is centered on Jesus and his mission, crucifixion, and resurrection. We are told in the Bible that in 2 Timothy 2:10, “Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.” In other words, the Bible teaches us that Christ is the Son of God and our sinless Redeemer who died and rose again for our sins so that we may have everlasting life wit...   [tags: Islam, Christianity, Jesus, New Testament]
