The Quran not olny speaks of a lower jihad (warfare) but also the rewards that awaits the “self-sacrificer” As noted by Robert Spencer in his book Islam Unveiled, “These rewards are well known: a heaven filled with the delights of the flesh, vividly described in many verses of the Qur’an: dark-eyed maidens, nonintoxicating liquors and so forth. The blessed. (Spencer 28). The call to jihad has been used to unite Muslims to defend Islam at all cost.

From the website why islam.org The Quran repeatedly stresses Muhammad 's claim to being a prophet. Those who accept it are morally superior to those who don 't. Muslims will receive the highest reward in paradise while the non-believers will suffer egregious torment in hell - as well as a "painful punishment" in this life.
