Transplantation is a surgical procedure that is performed on patients who were born without a uterus or due to cervical cancer. A healthy uterus is implanted into a female where their uterus may not be functioning properly. This transplantation is not common because usually donors are giving their organ to someone so they can save a life whereas in this case, it’s for reproduction.
There were several of cases that were performed by doctors so they will be able to see how the procedure works. When they were doing the procedures they did not have a handbook to go by so they were doing everything by information that they are familiar with. In 2011, the surgeons in Turkish did the procedure and took the uterus from someone who was deceased. In 2013 of April, the surgeons in Turkish did a uterus transplantation successfully resulting in a live birth.
The surgeons in Swedish were the first to take on this interesting procedure to help woman who was dealing with infertility issues; there were other surgeons that were interested and tried the procedure with different techniques. Sweden surgeons were the first to take on this procedure; they did a clinical trial of transplantation, involving nine women who received uteri from live donors.
The doctors in Swedish purpose in transplanting wombs are to proceed with a surgical procedure that will have an impact on changing lives. There were two previous case studies that deal with Transplantation of the uteri but they both failed to produce babies. I think the doctors did a good job by doing a uterus transplant with individuals who are living and closely related. I believe that allowed the doctors to have successful results. I do not think the parents of the newborn baby boy should try for another baby. During this procedure the host’s mother cannot keep the uterus indefinitely because they will have to continue to take the anti-rejection drugs, which can cause high blood pressure, swelling, diabetes, and may also raise the risk of some type of cancer. I think this new technique of womb transplantation is taking place in Europe and Asia, but not in the United States because the government would not cover the expenses.

My overall thought of uterus transplantation is that the procedure can change many lives if they want to have the experience of raising a child. However, you would want to make sure a good doctor is performing the procedure so you will not have major health complications. I would not consider having this procedure performed if need be; I love kids, but if I cannot have them naturally, I would not go through this surgical procedure. I would not suggest this procedure to a friend/relative because if the procedure does not go as planned, I would feel bad for
