Is there too much pressure on teenagers to go to college?
There is a lot of pressure on this generation of teenagers to go to college, because we are use to hearing the saying “you need to graduate high school, so you can go to college to get you a good job.” Personally I agree with this saying, because there are plenty of successful people in this world with a college education, but it takes a lot of hard work just to prepare for college. For example, having to take SAT or ACT to maintain a certain score for a school to even consider your acceptance. Being financially stable, if not prepare to find scholarships and prepare essays just to obtain the scholarships. Growing up in a household where your parents want you to do better than they did, because they didn’t get a college education. Also most high salary paying jobs require some type of college degree, so that’s tell a person if you want to make a lot of money get a higher education.
In highschool we have to it in our mind that we want to go to college. The process strats our freshman year, We need to meet the school counselor to get a understanding what we need to do, from our freshman year to our senior year. We need to have so type of idea of what we want to do for our career. We need to be on track to graduate, that means take all the necessary classes we need to take to graduate on time. We are all told to stay in school and have good grades. That is stressful it’s self if you are not good in a subject or two. You have to maintain a certain GPA which means to get all the extra help and work you can. You need to score a reasonable score on ACT or SAT to be even consider for a certain school. I agree with this saying, because there are plenty of successful people in this world with a college education, but it takes a lot of hard work just to prepare for college.
