In the world today, unfortunately the presence of evil does exist. Evil thoughts, acts, and words will always separate us from God, which was established from the beginning with Adam and Eve. Unfortunately the bible teaches that Adam stood as a representative of the entire human race. When he sinned the penalty of death and separation from God was placed upon the entire creation. In life we all experience things we take to be evil. In less than an hour the evening news broadcasts terrible acts of evil ranging from cruel thoughtless killings, war, unpredictable natural disasters, mass shootings and human suffering. The kind of intensity and distribution of evil in the world, counts against God. The problem of evil is certainly the greatest obstacle …show more content…

That is a question that I ask myself on a daily basis and still cannot comprehend. I cringe every time I hear about the evils of the world, and it saddens me that I am apart of it all. Here is my personal opinion. I believe that God allows hardship to reach our lives in order to make us better. I feel life is like a test we can either pass or fail. We really can 't help going through trails but we can choose what attitude we have when facing certain situations. Romans 5: 3-5, And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character; hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. I also believe that other peoples bad choices affect everybody. I think that there is a ripple effect that happens when evil is present. I feel that bad things can happen to good people because of others poor choices in life. I also think that when a person has a strong personal relationship with God the devil tries to interfere. In the book of Job, God allowed Satan to do everything he wanted to Job except kill him. Job 's reaction to all his hardship “Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him.” “The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.” Job did not fully understand why God had allowed the things he did, but he knew God was good and therefore continued to trust in him. Ultimately, I think Job set a great example for mankind to follow. In my personal life I have experienced trials and tribulations. I do not understand why certain things happen to me but I continue to remain strong in my faith. As stated in our book, “ Evil is related to notions of the sacred, which emphasize its freedom with respect to ordinary ideas of justice and its inscruttability with respect to human understanding.     My claim that we have evil in this world because of our libertarian freedom does not fully answer the notion of “the problem of evil”. Saying we have evil in this world is just like saying we have bad decisions in this world. Bad decisions just like evil do not have a form. Davis argues that free will is the answer to the problem of evil. This is consistent with my view that evil exists because of our libertarian freedom. Unlike Hick, Davis is consistent with my answer for evil and he is also consistent with how evil is solved in regards to heaven and hell. Davis states, “I do believe hell exists, but I do not hold that it is a place where protesting people are led against their will to be tortured vengefully. I believe that the people who will end up separated from God freely choose hell and would be unhappy in God’s presence.
