Music education is more than just a subject in a school, its a science class, a math class, an english class, of course it can be a history class, and even a physical education class. Music takes all of the core school subjects and combines them all into one subject that can be understood anywhere in the world at any given moment. Music is a science because there are special elements that it takes to create a symphony that could quite possibly taken three long years to compose and produce. Music is math all because you have to know how to count a certain number of measures of rest, know how to count the time that the song could be written in and many many more other variations of counting time and for keeping time. Music is an english through these same concepts. You have to know how to properly format a musical composition, how to speak through it without sounding like you are musically illiterate, and even how to talk about a musical idea properly. History, oh how we have always loved to sit through our middle or high school history class; learn about the beginning of cavemen times, about the American Revolution, and even more recent as the devastating and tragic story around September 11, 2001. History involving music has been dated back to around 3,000 years before the Birth of Christ. Some of the very first documented sheets of music date back around the First Dynasty in Egypt, between 3200 and 3600 B.C. (N.A., "How far…by man?"). There is an endless supply of information, resources, and topics concerning musical history. Last but especially not least, whether you want to believe it or not, yes music can be considered a physical education course. I had asked these individuals three big questions that I could think of, the first question was what kind of problems did it help you get though? The first friend said "It helped me through the death of a loved one (grandpa and my cousin Josh." My second friend stated "It has helped me through almost everything, from break ups to the loss of a loved one." Last but not least the third friend said "It has helped me get through and over a relationship that ended." The second question that I had asked this group was what types of music did they listen to when getting through their situation? First friend said, "Mostly country or churchy type of music." Second friend says that "Country, country, country. Mostly Scotty McCreery." Third friend claims "I listen to country music mostly but sometimes a little bit of Daughtry." The final question that I had asked this group was how quickly did it help them to cope with the situation? Friend number one said "For a breakup it helped pretty quick but for the death of a loved one it helps to calm me down but getting over a loved one is very difficult it takes a long time but listening to music definitely helps, it lets you know that you are not the only one going through this situation."
