Being a freshman is scary but what is even scarier is when you get put into a triple. Thinking that you can not possibly bring every single piece of clothing or trying to figure out how you will have enough space in such a small room. Why do we even have triples at Walsh? Having a triple is not as bad if the people in charge of housing do their job correctly. Why do they put an out of state student in a triple? They know that they have to bring a lot of their items because they can not go home all the time. Putting somebody in a triple knowing they are not going to be able to go home until the holidays. Since out of state students are bringing so much of their stuff here because they are not going to be able to go home all the time. Walsh should two out of state students together in a room. Having an out of state student in a triple is just not logical. But, if they out two out of state students in a room together it would make more sense. The reason being that they are both bringing so much of their belongings here to campus and they are not going to be able to go home on a random weekend to take clothes they do not need anymore back home. Since they have everything they need up until Christmas both out of state students will have enough room in a double rather than being put into a triple. Rachel Gainer a freshman here at Walsh lives in a triple and one of her roommates is an out of state student. When asked about her living situation she said, "Living in a triple is not that bad, the only thing that is challenging is all of Hope 's, her third roommate, items. She is from Connecticut, so she brought a lot with her. She has one whole closet space and most the space about the closet because she has so much. Most she does not even use anymore. She just can not go home until Thanksgiving" (Gainer). The problem is not only just triples all together but it is the fact that out of state students are not put into doubles. Sidewalks are different shapes and sizes, people tend to make their own decisions to which way they would want to go. Going through the motions on a sidewalk is similar as going through the motions of life. There are many turns that could get you to your final destination and turns that can also get you into places you would not feel so comfortable being. Staying on the right path and trying to get to where you need to go isn’t so hard but when you have other sidewalks with nice grass and big beautiful street lights that can be a very big distraction to the eye and that could cause problems in your life. Nice sidewalks sometimes don't always tend to continue a nice path so they can be very believing at first but when you make it to the end

The only problem is, whose fault is it? Northwestern University has on campus housing; however, the University is completely engulfed within the community. Living off campus is one of the benefits of going to NU, because the community and environment around the campus is extremely college oriented. When you have an environment that is so conducive to the typical college student, obviously they are going to treat the surrounding territory as their territory. So then the issue really becomes, whose fault is it? Who is to blame for the noise complaints and the rude, rowdy behavior?
As with all student, homeless students should have their emotional and personal privacy maintained. The school should be flexible with its attendance policy and not penalize homeless students because they are relaying on various transportation just to get to school. However, if they are absent, the school should follow-up immediately. Additionally, if the student does transfer, schools should work together so the student does not need to wait an extended period for new services to begin. Homeless students should be made available every opportunity: special education, language services, field trips. Teachers need to think outside the box to make the system work for these children because they will often not willingly volunteer or ask to participate. My best friend, Michael, and I were recently shopping around trying to determine where we were going to live starting in the fall next school year. We both spent this last semester on campus to fulfil Georgia Southern’s first-year requirement and both of us would be quick to agree that it definitely had its pros and cons. Before we started, we sat down and took a look at what on-campus and off-campus housing had to offer using a cost-to-benefit ratio. While living on-campus is great in the fact that you are able to walk to class faster, you are located closer to the meal hall, and you have the ability to go to the library without searching for a parking spot; due to the tolls it takes financially, socially, and personally in regards to schoolwork and grades, living on-campus is an issue that I feel is a huge factor in low grades. Off-campus housing, due to the wide variety to choose from, is capable of providing students with the freedom they need in order to be their own person, the ability to hide away in your room when it’s time to study or visit one of the many amenities provided by the community when they feel like being social, and they provide all of this at a mere fraction of the cost of on-campus housing even when factoring in utilities, food, and gas.
...ch as fewer expenses, and being able to concentrate on my course work are varied greatly with the good things that Sydney experiences with living in a dorm, such as being able to attend GVSU events and being able to take full advantage of everything the campus offers to its students. On the other hand, there are the negative issues that I deal with as a commuter such as not being involved in the campus life and the amount of time it takes to travel to Allendale in the winter, and the difficulties that Sydney deals with like the expenses she must pay and the lack of space in her dorm room for her and her dorm mate, as well as not being able to connect with her family as much as she might want. Even though the encounters that both Sydney and I have had are distinctive, we are both getting what we want out of our college experience here at Grand Valley State University.
When I moved to California two weeks before school started, I had difficulty looking for places to live around County Community College. This is because community colleges don’t usually have on-campus housing facilities for students. This made life very difficult for me because I was brand new to the area and I knew no one. My dad did help me by calling up one of his friends and asked if I could stay at their house temporarily until I was able to find a place I could live at, that was near school because I didn’t have a car at the time. The day I finally found a place to live, school was almost about to start. When I went to check the house out, I really disliked it there because there was no cooking allowed, the only time I could use the stove was to boil water. There were even curfews enforced because poor wooden floorboards would alert everyone whenever someone would walk around just to grab a cup of water or a snack at night. Another limitation was that the landlady had ridiculous shower curfews that I had to follow. The house was very unclean and unhygienic due to the lack of maintenance and care provided for the building. There was no other choice but to live there because it was the closest place to school, that was within walking or biking distance, I could find because I didn’t know how to take the bus in this new country. This is what leads me to believe that County Community College should see if it’s feasible to construct an on-campus housing facility for students because it is able to help a large variety of students in various ways.
Have you ever wondered how some athletes have gotten so good at a certain sport? Have you ever thought about what they did in order for them to get this good? For some the answer is simple; workout and train. But for others the answer is different; the use of performance enhancing drugs such as steroids. There are some people that argue that steroids should be legalized and allowed in professional sports. Other people argue that steroids should not be allowed. Today I am going to state my opinion and justify my reason. Steroids should not be allowed in professional sports because it can be very dangerous to the athlete’s health, it is a way to gain and un-fair advantage and it can be dangerous in both social and physical aspects.

If they fight behind a screen, on the front line, or from a controller as long as they’re protecting this country, the people in it, and the people fighting for it they are honorable. Some think that because one does their fighting from a remote control drone means that they have no understanding of war, and in some ways that is true, but they are still taking someone’s life when they choose to press that button just like the solders on the front line takes someone’s life when they pull the trigger. The focus of this paper is to dispel a common view that community colleges do not provide on-campus housing and to provide greater insights into the types of community colleges that provide on-campus housing, the typical student who resides in on-campus housing, a guide to various California community colleges that provide on-campus housing, and the impact that on-campus housing has on student learning outcomes, financial gains for community colleges that provide on-campus housing, and an overview of the lack of data in the area of not only on-campus housing in community colleges, but community colleges at large. According to Cohen and Brawer (2008) access to student housing is one of the fundamental dissimilarities between public community colleges and four-year institutions of higher learning (p. 220). Cohen and Brawer (2008) take the position that community colleges lack the all-encompassing ability to appreciate the connectedness of community in the same fashion as that of four-year colleges or universities. Broader analysis of current data relating to on-campus housing in rural community colleges is three-fold. First, it exposes the lack of concrete observation or empirical data on the issues that surround community colleges with respect to on-campus housing. A wealth of data supports the learning outcomes, financial impact, gains, and drawbacks of on-campus housing, but from the vantage point of on-campus housing at the four year college or university level. For my “How to do” speech my goal was to share with the class an interesting and informative way to learn something new. Due to the speeches time limit, I knew I needed to be well prepared. I wanted to be less nervous before and during my speech. While presenting I was nervous, but I didn’t really have time for these feelings to sink in because I was focused on the information I wanted to share with the audience. I enjoyed presenting in the second group of speeches so I could see my peers different types of speaking style. The audience seemed alert and interested in my topic which made it a little bit easier for me to speak, because there weren’t any distractions in the room from people not paying attention. As the Housing Administration of Penn State, I ask you to put yourself in the shoes of the incoming freshmen. As a freshman, you hope for a roommate you can relate to and spend your time with. But at Penn State the chances of you getting along with your roommate are slim to none. I know so many people who cannot stand living with their roommates. Two of my friends actually switched at the semester because they could not deal with their living situation. At Penn State we are placed together by major. Two people with the same major are not guaranteed to have any of the same habits, interests, or goals. I feel that this is not an effective way of matching people up.
Overcoming adversity is imperative. In fact, you can 't have the happiness and success you want unless you have adversity in your life and overcome it. It is essential for progressing into who you want to be. It shows you what you are made of. It teaches you more about yourself, how to approach what you want, and how to maintain the success that you have. Without it, you wouldn 't know how far you could go or how capable you are because you wouldn 't have anything to push you or compare to.
