Is Homosexuality a Choice?
Homo is defined in the Webster’s dictionary as a combining one and the same, common, joint. Sexuality is defined as the quality or state of being distinguished by sex. These two terms combined (homo-sexuality) means of, relating to, or characterized by a tendency to direct sexual desire toward another of the same sex. “The Kinsey study of 1948, which homosexuals often cite to say that 10% of the population is homosexual, actually says that only 4% of the population is EXCLUSIVELY homosexual.” (2007). There are five commonly asked questions about homosexuality, they are:
1. What are religious perspectives on homosexuality?
2. Are there “GAY GENES” that causes a person to be more attracted to a person of the same sex?
3. What is the biological basis for sexual orientation?
4. Does hormones influence sexual orientation?
5. What are some statistics on homosexuality?
The answer to these questions could clarify how and why homosexuality is a growing trend. It may also help a person become more open minded about a person’s sexuality. Religious perspectives, genetics, hormones, or life itself may or may not have an influence on homosexuality.
Leviticus 20:13 reads as follows, “If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their blood guiltiness is upon them.” 1 Timothy 1: 9-10 says “realizing the fact that law is not made for a righteous person, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers, and whatever else is contrary t...

...hat they choose to be homosexual. They choose to love who they love and be attracted to whom they are attracted to. Being that I am a Christian, I believe that homosexuality is a sin; however, I am neither for nor against homosexuality.
