Is college worth the time and money? Yes. Those who go to college, may find it to be a learning and self-developing experience. College will prove to be a great investment when the person puts in the hard work and determination. Not many will agree with this, as it is in the case of Caroline Bird. In Caroline Bird’s essay, “College is a Waste of Time and Money,” she discusses arguments that try to convince the reader that college is insignificant. However, these allegations are composed of fallacious logic such as: failing to accept the burden of proof, hasty generalization, and sob story. ...ot result in an efficient and reliable juror or physician, for example. However, education should be free for everyone, or at least not expensive. It will push more high school graduates into wanting to pursue a higher education. They should also be given the choice from high school to decide what they want to pursue, and directly take those classes that will enable them to acquire the job they want. This will prevent from them “wasting”, as Bird believes, their time on random classes that do not pertain to the specialization being studied for. These are some of the ways traditional college can be improved, of course, there can be more improvements, but it does not mean college education is any type of waste. The only way a person can advanced in life is by putting in the time and effort in developing their own knowledge and skills, and college can provide with that.
