College Education Is getting a college education really as important as people say it is? Is a college education worth all the time and money put into it? Many People wonder if it is important to have a college education. While some people think it is okay not to have one, others think it is a must. Most people think that “In today’s increasingly global, knowledge-based economy, education has never been more important” ("Fact Sheet: Empowering States to Transform the Education Landscape"). While college can help a person make more money, have increased opportunities, and find jobs with better benefits, it is also very expensive, time-consuming, and risky. This shows that it is a known fact that people with a college education will make more money. it is also said that “over the course or working 40 years, someone with a high school diploma will make $1,116,600 while someone with a bachelor’s degree will make $2,048,204” (How Much Money do College Grads Make). People with a college education are able to make more money because they are able to find better jobs than those with only a high school diploma. Earning more money is not only the most common reason for a person to go to college, but also one of the most important reasons. Having a college education can give a person increased opportunities. Having a college degree does not only lead to better job opportunities but having a degree also leads to happiness. “The benefits of a college education include career opportunities like better paying and higher skilled jobs, but studies have shown that it also leads to overall happiness and stability” ("Benefits of Earning a College Degree"). College requires a lot of studying. College classes are not like high school classes. In high school, a person might be able to get away with never having to study, but in college, the classes are much more difficult and must be studied to maintain a good grade, especially if a person is planning on keeping a scholarship. So many people go to college thinking it is just going to be a big party and it is going to be so much fun, but they do not think of the amount of time spent inside of class and outside of class that they will consume studying. There is also not much time to see family. Many students get to college and miss their families. It is even harder for someone to see their family if they are at a University. Students who are at a University are often way more busy than a student who is attending a freshman college. For those people who participate in sports, college is, even more, time-consuming. A person who plays sports is not even off on the weekend because they must attend a game. For those people who play sports, they have even less time to see family and study. With less time to study a person’s grades may drop. While in college there is not much time to do anything besides study, try and keep upgrades, and attend any other required
