Over the years, the importance of a college degree has become prevalent than ever. It is believed that by obtaining a college degree, a student is able to increase their net worth through the experiences they have gained through college. By obtaining a Bachelor’s degree, students are projected to have more opportunities available to them once they have completed their degree. Although a college degree comes at very high cost, students are more than willing to endure the expense in order to improve their chances of obtaining the dream job they have been dreaming of. As students are pursuing a college degree, every student has a different reason as to why they are pursuing a college degree. At the end of their journey however, students are more hopeful in increasing their job opportunities, self-investment, and the ability to overcome adversity upon the completion of their college degree.
Students that go to college in order to obtain a degree often do so in order to improve their financial stability and to broaden their opportunities. Studies have shown that college graduates are more likely to earn a higher income than those with just high school diplomas (Kurtzleben). College graduates today are projected to earn more than their peers who have less education. When compared to past generations, a great portion of today’s job market requires students to have some form of college education along a few years of work experience. Holding a degree also provides students with some job security as college graduates are less likely to be unemployed when compared in contrast to high school graduates. High school graduates normally apply for jobs which help them to “just to get [them] by” and often do not lead to any further career opportun...

Upon the end of their academic career, students will have the necessary experiences to carry themselves in whatever life may throw their way. With a college degree in hand, students will have more opportunities available as they have put in several years of hard work to increase the stability of their own lives. The time invested not only will benefit students, but it will also prove to others that by earning a college degree success is sure to follow. Unfortunately, college is not all sunshine and rainbow as students also have to endure several hardships along the way. Adversity affects all students, but the ones who are able to make it out of college make it out with several life skills which have more than enough prepared them for their professional careers.
