The battle for controlling smartphone market between Korean competitor Samsung and US heavyweight Apple is ongoing. Apple entered the mobile phone industry in 2007 with no experience in developing mobile phone or smartphones, since 2007 Apple had become the major smartphone company. However, Samsung had as experience in developing mobile phones unlike Apple but it hardly catching up with Apple in developing smartphones. Smartphone is all about software and how it works, Apple did a great job by changing the phone industry by announcing the first smartphone ever back in 2007. However, Samsung are trying to close the gap by introducing the Galaxy S4. Comparing the Galaxy S4 and the iPhone 5s in terms of design, display, performance, software and security, and camera.
Neither Samsung nor Apple chose to completely redesign their latest smartphones. The iPhone 5S is identical to the iPhone 5 and features the exact same 124 x 59 x 7.6 mm dimensions and 0.112kg weight. The Galaxy S4 is also close to identical to the Galaxy S3, featuring the design and measuring 137 x 70 x 7.9 mm. Even though Samsung Galaxy S4 is heavier and larger than the 0.112kg iPhone 5S, it is more comfortable to hold. This is because the Samsung has a round edges body that makes it rest more neatly in hand than the hard-edged iPhone. However, Apple beat Samsung in terms of build quality. Samsung uses a polycarbonate (a fancy word of saying plastic) in making their devices; this technique makes it most expensive device feel quite cheap. S4 has the shape as the S3 with the polycarbonate back cover and metal sides, which feels less solid than the 5S. Whereas, Apple uses unibody design made of aluminum, which make the smartphone more ridged.

In terms of specification Samsung Galaxy S4 looks better. However, the most convenient device is the iPhone 5s; we can clearly notice that it overtake the Samsung Galaxy S4 in many categories such as design, software and security, camera, battery and storage. Some users prefer to buy Galaxy S4 instead of iPhone 5s because it supports flash technology, which may harm the device.
In conclusion, Apple overtakes Samsung in major and most important categories such as design, camera, performance, software and security, and battery life. However, people are interested in the design of the phone and how it feels on hand and how big is the screen. Therefore, some people may say that Samsung Galaxy S4 is more convenient than the iPhone 5s but the reality says that the iPhone is more reliable and convenient than the Galaxy S4.
The features of their mobile phone are the crucial part of their parity, for e.g. – introduction of galaxy phone. Talking about the point of differentiation, recently we have seen Samsung is going to launch Galaxy S6 with a curved screen; which is a very new concept in this mobile sector and none of the other companies have so far been able to introduce such a new concept. Samsung seems to be the pioneer in this criterion and have done something off the hook. Overall the performance of this brand seems to be very impressive in terms of popularity, revenue and the contribution they are making to the mass public by offering their products. Nevertheless, I would still like to recommend an improvement regarding one of their major drawbacks, which Samsung still doesn’t seem to have overcome. Even though Samsung claimed they don’t actually make their customers a wall hugger, in reality actually they do. Hence, they should focus more on these specifications so that consumers don’t get the chance to switch brands in the blink of an

The Apple IPhone is easier to work with while the Samsung Galaxy phone is harder to operate. Although, Samsung has tried to make a duplicate like the iPhone both phones come with different features.

In fact, Apple plans to stop purchasing at least 80% of the key components from Samsung by the end of 2017 (Kim).
