This reflection is on the critical analysis of two journal articles which I had to complete for journal club. The journal articles I had to review were of my own choice but had to relate to the material which was covered in the Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics 3 module. There was two journal club sessions, which were held on two separate weeks with the same group. The group I was involved with had four members in total in which each of us had to discuss our article and give a critical analysis of the paper. The two papers I chose were paper 1: ‘Lithium Decreases Plasma Adiponectin Levels in Bipolar Depression’ (Soeiro-de-Souza et al., 2014) and paper 2: ‘Involuntary treatment of schizophrenia patients 2004-2010 in Denmark (Andersen et al., 2013).
When the assignment was first given out I wasn’t looking forward to it. Although I wasn’t looking forward to it I thought it was a great idea as whatever path I choose to go down in pharmacy using reputable, reliable and evidence based material will be essential as well as spotting and disregarding rubbish articles. Also it will be of huge benefit for my fourth year project. I had read articles before but that is all I had done read them. I never questioned any of the methods used or the results given and never thought too much whether if I agreed with what was being said or in essence I didn’t have an opinion. My expectations of the journal club were exceeded. I found I enjoyed reviewing the articles and the group session worked very well. You can pick up a lot of information from other people on how they review journals and the questions they ask in relation to my own. I also learned that I don’t always realise how much of my studies form the past three years has been instilled i...

The journal club definitely gave me new perspectives on how to approach papers and to critique them. I have a better understanding of what to look for and by incorporating my learning thus far how to decipher what some of the results mean. Also having the chance to practice over two weeks I could see the difference in myself and the other group members.
By taking part in the journal club it gave me definite viewpoint on what to look for in a paper and to come to an opinion of whether I thought the paper was of a high standard. The experiences with the other people in my group played a part in my learning and approach. This will be of great use to me in the future and in particular when undertaking my final year project in which there will be a large literature review.

It is early in the week yet when I’m preparing this journal and I have not received any feedback on my prior week’s learning journal or my discussion post for this week. There was not an assignment in unit 7, so there has been no feedback there either.
The course pushed me to find my inner creativity and express myself in my writings. Each day I was assigned a journal topic that I had the
In the final step of evaluating conclusions, the research community makes an active conversation about what they have discovered, and they write down details about the study. Then, they publish their work in various types of journal in order to let others read and learn from them. In the Katrevich et al. (2014) study, the conclusions were published in North American Journal of Psychology. In this way, scientists can figure out a new idea to be tested or one that will change the thinking about some topics (King, 2016).
I enjoyed getting to learn so many things about some of my classmates. We may all be enrolled in the same course, but all share different hobbies, goals, and accomplishments. Varying from watching movies, receiving a certain certification, or going to sports events. My group consists of three people, Shian Harvey, Ben Stevens, and last but not least Jordan Stevens.
Clubs were a great way for me to expand my interests outside of athletics. I was involved in Key Club and FCA freshman year and I enjoyed meeting new people and making a difference in our community. I was inducted a member of NHS junior year and this was a great way to make service a priority.
...s mission not for every kids but for many kids. Clubs seek to help kids marginalized and cast to the side and is very effective doing this. I probably will go back when I’m not in college and volunteer. Classism is going to continue as the gap between social classes continues to widen however clubs and organizations can help kids to rise and achieve what they otherwise might not have been able to achieve otherwise. Positivity can go a long way.
Over the four years that I have spent at Good Counsel, I became part of many activities. Each helping me evolve as a person and become stronger yet. Simple lists could be made of every activity that I have ever been involved in but it could never express to a person what I have learned and how it helped me to grow. Every environmental club, science club, political science club, service work, and S.A.D.D. club I was part of had a very special message to deliver to me. Whether the message was one of responsibility, or a life lesson, I grew from it. The Political Science club opened me to many new experiences. It allowed me the chance to attend the Model U.N., where I was asked to address today's top world issues. This club was very beneficial to me because I was exposed to topics and ideas that I had not previously been able to discuss or learn about in a classroom situation. The science club allowed for me to experience extra educational situations as well. I took part in a hovercraft competition, which was very educational while also allowing me the chance to work with others for a common goal.
At some point a human might have a relative, or heard of someone, or even experienced itself of suffering from Schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is a serious mental illness that affects many humans throughout the world. People living with this mental disorder may depend on a family member or someone close to take care of him/her. Certain individuals have a good chance of inheriting schizophrenia if a family member appears to show a history of this mental disorder. Unlike others can develop this psychotic disorder while growing up. For instance, a young woman or man may begin to show some signs or symptoms within his/her teen years. Well unfortunately, I have a brother who inherited Schizophrenia and it is extremely difficult to cope with him at certain times.
...They learned how to work together as a team, and how to share ideas and think outside of the box. As the leader of the entire effort, I also met with the team members who did not stay involved with the team to understand what could the team or I have done different to make them feel closeness or cohesiveness with the others.
For the study, writing a reflective learning journal helps me: bring together theory and practice and yield better understanding of the course material while for my development as a successful and independent learner, it helps me: See my strength and weakness
In college, I will also be exposed to new clubs and activities. I feel that club and after school activities can make a person more involved and give a person the right qualities to become a leader. Involvement in extra events has provided a balance for rigorous course study. With the pressures that college brings, I will probably want to be involved in many groups.
There are many benefits of student clubs directed towards students, instructors, etc. The benefits for students include developing leadership and self-esteem skills. Students also become acquainted with the community members, instructors, and students. The students also apply the knowledge and skills learned in the classroom in their club. Some other advantages are learning to work as a team and with people from different ethnicities. The instructors benefit from clubs by observing their students applying the skills learned in the club in the classroom and then challenge the students’ new skills.
I really enjoyed the group discussions, as well, and I sort of wish there was even more of a focus on them. Reading my peer’s perspectives and contributing my own thoughts about their posts helped me to consider the subjects from different angles and challenged me to think about the topics more discerningly. There were quite a few times where, after responding to my peers, my original post felt narrow in scope. That give-and-take process helped me to develop and clarify my
The value of journal writing to a course with adult students cannot be overemphasized. (Sommer 1989, p. 115)
