Interview with A Friend
When thinking of people I could possibly interview, and then deciding that most of them wouldn’t be very interesting, I decided to interview a friend of mine. N.H. At first glance he seems like any other 15 year old but once you get to know him, you’ll soon realize that, that isn’t the case.
Firstly he’s moved around and experienced more things then most people his age, even most people in general, and has developed a unique personality because of this. N. was born in 1985, in Finland but moved shortly afterwards to England and then again moved after only a few years to Malawi in Africa. The reason for them moving was that his father’s job bored him. He basically grew up as an ex pat in Africa and even though N. lived behind gates in a large house, he still had a sort of bond to the people. “The one thing that I’ll never forget, “ N. informs me of, “was the time when we had an armed robbery. There had been a gang of locals, running around the town we lived in, but being a bit naïve, we never thought that they’d ever try and rob us.” “We were watching Formula 1 on TV and I suddenly heard the door burst open. Four armed men came charging in and the only thing my father could do was say ‘Oh sh*t’. They took everything of value, including the TV and I have to admit, I was dumbstruck.” He carries on to tell me about how they just came running in, waving their guns around, telling his family to lay down on the floor. As much as generous and honest Nick Carraway is, he still needs a few important improvements in himself. Nick went to Yale, fought in world war one and moved to East of New York to work in finance. After moving to New York, Nick faces tough dilemmas throughout the story such as revealing secrets, and witnessing betrayal. His innocence and malevolence toward others was beyond his control. He did not have the ability or knowledge to know what he should have done in the spots he was set in. He seemed lost and having no control of what went on- almost trapped- but indeed, he had more control than he could have ever known. Because of the situations he has experienced and the people he has met, such as Gatsby, Tom, Jordan and Daisy, his point of view on the world changed dramatically which is very depressing. Trusting the others and caring for them greatly has put him in a disheartening gloomy position.
Lawrence is a tall, built, attractive young man who is very religious and has an outgoing personality. He seemed relaxed and interested in the interview in which was getting to take place.

As I sat down with Jordan Fisher, on April 30th, we looked out the window to a gloomy, rainy day. It was wet and nasty day, but Jordan agreed to sit down with me to discuss his position as an HR officer. Jordan started with the Federal Government, 30 years ago at the age of 20. Now 50 Jordan is looking forward to retiring with his wife, stating “I enjoy it here, I really do—but I can’t wait to retire.” While Jordan plans to work for one more year before retiring, the knowledge and experience that he has gained from the position will never leave him. Jordan has been a very successful H.R. official because he has integrity, used effective communication and proper documentation.
No longer young, he is now serious, self-controlled, and steeled by the experience of countless dangers and hardships.
Conflict is a difference in opinion. The leader must devise ways of dealing with conflict in the team. The focus is to promote a healthy discussion that does not lead to division in the team . The team members come from different department and thus may have differing opinion on tackling the problem. The leader should be able to reconcile the different opinions into one strategy. In such cases, the negotiation skill becomes vital (Harrison, 1971). The leader must negotiate with the team member to strike a balance on the decision. Furthermore, the decision made by the team must be presented to the management and approved. The leader must convince the management that the proposal is viable, and its implementation will be beneficial to the organisation. The purpose of this assignment was to interview someone who is more than 30 years of age and who is of a different race than oneself. Research on the person being interviewed ethnic background had to be conduct, in addition to, materials covered in class and previous experiences were compiled into 7-10 open ended questions that were discussed during the interview. According to the Theorists as groups turn into teams, most conflict happens in the “storming” stage of team development (De Janasz, Dowd & Schneider, 2001). First, one must understand what conflict is. Capozzoli (1999) cites Boulding’s 1962 definition of conflict as “a situation of competition in which the parties are aware of the incompatibility of potential future positions and in which each party wishes to occupy a position which is incompatible with the wishes of the other.” Conflict can be either constructive or destructive to the team and can be created in several ways. Aging and being old was dominated by negative characteristics and conditions such as illness, depression, and isolation for a long time (Eibach, Mock, & Courtney, 2010). At first glance the terms “success” and “aging” seem to be in conflict to each other. When asking people about aging, their answers have many facets that are also found in psychological definitions: successful aging is seen as health, maturity and personal growth, self-acceptance, happiness, generativity, coping, and acceptance of age-related limitations. In the psychological sense successful aging is also often seen as the absence of age-associated characteristics (Strawbridge, Wallhagen, & Cohen, 2002). It seems that successful aging means is not aging.
