I wanted to share my experience that I learnt at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars [WWICS], United States of America, in this reflection piece. WWICS is a non-partisan independent research institution that works in bringing scholars and policy makers together to share experiences and knowledge to address the existing regional and international problems including issuing of policy documents. The Center accepted me as one of the Southern Voices Network African Research Scholars based on my project entitled ‘Hybrid Peacebuilding in Somalia: From Security Sector Governance Perspectives’. This project seeks to examine the hybridization of both state and non-state security actors to build sustainable peace in Somalia; and the role that the international community plays during stabilization and post conflict construction period. I have been at the center for three months starting from September 3 to November 30, 2013.
