Over the last decade Google has become one of the largest and most successful global firms. Founded in 1998 and beginning as an online search engine, Google has evolved into a multi-faceted technology giant. Their success is evident in indicators including; revenue, market share, and brand value.
I am writing this paper off a Google Drive document, and found all my research through Google search engine. Google recently announced, that Gmail now has 425 million users, and is being used by government agencies in forty-five states and sixty-six of the top one hundred Universities have gone Google. Google also announced at it’s recent developer conference, over five million businesses have gone Google. Google is an American multinational thriving corporation, and one of the most common household words in modern society. For young adults nearing college graduation, many may dream of working at Google and experiencing the modern, unique technology benefits Google offers their employees. According to CNN Money Fortune, Google is number one on the best companies to work for list, and after interviewing a “Googler” readers can confirm the statement, though it’s fun, that Google has a productive work environment that keeps employees happy, and makes it the best company to work for.
A majority of Google Inc. revenue comes from its advertising services. As a search engine provider (i.e. chrome) it knew that it had access to billions of customers worldwide which businesses want to reach. So it asked the question, “What if we could provide products that allow for better attribution and measurement across screens so that we show great ads for the right people?” (citation). From there came this idea of providing advertisement services to businesses. Its ad services are grouped into Performance advertising and Brand advertising.

Employees have the freedom to take risks, which help to build their creativity and innovation. They utilize the Maslow’s hierarchy theory of needs. This makes sure employees feel a sense of team which reduces any form of competition.

This research has asked us to look into three different styles of management and find real life examples of companies or individuals who have or are currently using such styles of management. To begin we will take a look into the use of an autocratic style of management versus a participative. In this portion we will look into Leona Helmsley and her chain of hotels. Once this potion is completed, our next section will be looking into a centralized style of management versus a decentralized style. In this section of the research, we will be looking into Apple Inc and how they have built an empire with a centralized style of managing philosophy. Finally, in the final section of the research we will be taking a look at how Google has created an informal environment in which employees have direct access to executives and have the ability to share thoughts and ideas that are taken serious and to the heart.
