Interior Decorators such as Elsie de Wolfe, Eleanor McMillen Brown, and Dorothy Draper helped to pave the way for the Interior Design profession today. Their influential decisions to stray away from the Victorian style of design helped guide both the interior decorating profession, as well as architects who no longer wanted to design in the bulky and cluttered Victorian Style. Elsie de Wolfe designed during the Victorian movement, however “had adopted the 1890’s preference for Neoclassicism” (Smith, 22). Unlike the cluttered and dark interiors of an average Victorian interior, her interiors were, “in the words of one visitor, ‘[models] of simplicity’” (Smith, 20).
During the 1980s, designers and architects backfired against the order of modernism. Instead, they devolved into Neo-Classical elements and structures. Decoration revolutionised architecture, interior furniture and accessories into a visionary reality.
Frieda Kahlo was born Magdalena Carmen Frieda Kahlo y Calderon in Coyoacan, Mexico, July 6th, 1907. She did not in the first place plan to become a creator; she entered a pre-Master of Education system in Mexico City. She endured more than large integer dealing in her brio time and during her convalescence she began to discomfit. Her beaux-arts, mostly self-portraits and still life, filled with the colors and forms of Mexican folk art. Frieda created some 200 spacing’s, artistic production and sketches germane to her education in life, physical and aroused pain and her churning relationship with her ex husband Diego. She produced 143 beaux arts, lv of which are self-portraits. At the time of her exhibition first step, Frieda’s health was such that her Doctor told her that she was not to leave her patch. Paola Antonelli, design curator at New York’s Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), in her talk in 2007 claimed that there is a possibility to approach to the idea of the design as an instruction or a direction rather than a prescription of form. During resent decade, many designers have tried to separate art and design and introduce the design as an independent tendency. They believe that the essence of art and design are different. Professor Jae-Jin Shim explained that “Art is something driven by instinct, but design has to be based on a rational and commercial purpose” and John Maeda in 2012 argued that there’s a difference between art and design, and it matters. “Designers create solutions – the products and services that propel us forward. But artists create questions — the deep probing of purpose and meaning that sometimes takes us backward and sideways to reveal which way “forward” actually is.”

Questioning Marxist aesthetics is essential to an understanding of the enlightenment movements. Art, in its nearly infinite forms, is the vehicle for knowledge of a subjective kind. Through visual, linguistic, audio, or dance any number of messages and ideas may be conveyed, and these ideas may then be interoperated. The aesthetic form is what constitutes good or great art. It puts forth a structure by which one can judge a piece beyond the mere technical skill that is presented in it, though that is an important issue. The aesthetic form puts forth the notion that art sublimates reality, creating another reality that brings into question this one. Creating this fictional reality is the responsibility of art. According to Marcuse “renunciation of the aesthetic form is abdication
The sustainable interior design has a different main guideline; before esthetics, there is ethics. It has as main objective the healthy, the beneficial or harmful for the health of the people who live in the homes and to preserve the natural environment that surrounds it.
The most crucial skill for an Interior Designer to have is time management. An Interior Designer can not procrastinate in this field, especially in the commercial area. Commercial designers have a strict deadline to meet since their clients are mostly corporations. Corporations set a project budget for a certain quarter of a year because the design part is expensive and it needs to be planned out ahead of time. Also, the designer may be designing the space for a special event such as a Christmas party, banquet, etc. In their book, Designing Your Future, Beacham, McFall, and Park-Gates state “Contract design is characteristically deadline driven, and clients have high expectations for fast turn-around on designs. This pressure can cause a high level of stress in design offices” (66). This quote illustrates that the main causes of stress in the Interior Design profession are the deadli...
Throughout the world, there are an abundance of diverse cultures, each truly unique in comparison to another. Culture is described as the “characteristics of a particular group of people, defined by everything from language, religion, cuisine, social habits, music and arts” (Zimmermann). Each of these traits is what sets each society apart, and is what influences their expression of design. Throughout this course, we’ve learned how planning and design have varied all through history, however we decided to take it a step further and focus on how different regions throughout the world create spaces that reflect their own cultures’ particular interests. Being a group composed entirely of Interior Design majors, our emphasis is investigating the use of material, color, motifs and layouts of their interior spaces, and how they reflect their societies. Not only do we explore a culture’s influence on design, but we briefly touch on environmental factors as well. Of all of the regions throughout the world, we decided to focus our research on the cultural practices and designs of Mexico, India, and Japan. Our reasoning behind centering on these three cultures is that these cultures are some of the most well-known, yet each entirely distinct within their own way, thus providing a greater understanding of design styles around the world.
Most architectural engineers work in office buildings, laboratories, or industrial plants. Others may spend time outdoors at construction sites where they can monitor or direct operations or solve onsite problems. Some engineers travel extensively to plants or work sites.
Interior design is one of the most important professions. When thinking of design and architecture industry, it is necessary to keep in mind that the professionals emphasis on matters of everyday life when commencing a project. Important sectors of interior design consist of: residential, commercial, hospitality, healthcare, education and corporate designs. In the art community there is a lot of controversy in distinguishing what the difference between an artist and a designer. Designers are told they are not artist and they need to stop thinking they are artist. When dealing with art and design specific demographics and viewers interpret the messages of each subject in different ways. Art is said to be elucidated and design is said to be understood. Artists usually develop a work of art with the intention of bringing an emotion viewpoint, instinctive feeling, and or state of mind. When you look at an artist work it cannot be limited to just exhibiting one individual thought or just one individual meaning. That is a big difference when it comes to graphic design. Graphic design usually has a very specific goal and point to make. When dealing with graphic design there should not be any room or space for any mixed messages or multiple meanings. The audience of the design should immediately understand the design that the designer created. Art connects to people differently in so many ways. The only reason it connects to people in different ways is only because it is interpreted differently.

However, the number of architects depends on the volume of construction, and with the construction industry being sensitive to changes in the economy, poor economics could result in layoffs. On the other hand, architects can find work through self-employment, developing graphic design, interior design, product specialties, and the construction of museums, and display firms. Also, many architects “are employed in government agencies such as the Departments of Defense, Interior, and Housing and Urban Development, and the General Services Administration” (Careers in Focus: Architecture and Building 8,12). Architecture has many positive effects and promising outlooks in society, which makes it a great career to pursue.

A few simple jobs consist of helping clients to select fixtures and furniture, supervising the coordination of colors and materials, obtaining estimates and costs within the client?s budget, and overseeing the execution and installation of the project. The profession of architecture, the possible career as an architect, taking steps to gain a position and education as well as the set growth and prospects of this profession. According to Lee W. Waldrep (2010), author of the book Becoming a Architect “A Guide to Careers in Design, an architect is an imaginative person who designs a wide range of structures for buildings”(p. 2). These structures not only have to be aesthetically pleasing, but must also meet the safety requirements. Architects have to compete with other architects to attract customers by presenting designs. This process is generally based on building a reputation as an architect. Due to the nature and the amount of time devoted to designing, architects
