As a political science major Washington DC or something related to it usually comes out in classes. It has been a personal dream to go visit, but it has become a recent aspiration to go and work there. In any field, it can be difficult to get a job to jumpstart one’s career. The “real world” is known as after college for most people. For the post college reality, I have been trying to make it as painless as possible, but at the same time have it reach its full potential success wise. The reasons that I am interested in the DC internship, are that it would be a great experience, it would help me develop new skills, and it would be the perfect start for my career.
When it comes to the internship the most challenging part of the job is convincing people to buy from you. You have to overcome a lot of obstacles to get the person to do business with you. It can take a lot of work especially when it comes to creating the proposals to make the numbers work so that you are coming in at a price that they will agree to. We use Sherpa to create our deals and it can take a lot of finesses and creativity to get them to work. One of the main reasons it is hard is if we buy out the current contract that they are in. It makes it so we basically have to role buyout into their new contract. This can be difficult because we have to come in cheaper than their current price or they won’t switch to us but we also have to account for the costs of buying out their contract.

Throughout college one of my many goals would be to get a full-time internship that pays decently well, but more so, provides me precious knowledge and experience for my future career. I want one that specificity in a business field. An example would be a hospital scene. I would be required to file paperwork or acting as an assistant for a senior member and learn from the person’s in regards to what is appropriate for the company. My internship was at ArroGen Advance Forensics; and the internship gave me a lot more than just experience. While I was there I performed many different tasks and learned lots of skills.

Reading this article seem to make me think deeper on what do I really want out of an internship. In the past, I had the initiative to only find paid internships that will benefit my bank account. My research for paid internships began two months ago, to find a sports medicine or exercise science type internship starting in January of 2018. The article discusses two points that I believe will help me as I finish my degree and search for an internship. Those two points are the relationship of field experience and experiential learning and what takes place in a field experience.
