Information technology has made important achievements to our world, namely in the medical industry. With the increased use of electronic medical records (EMR), and mobile technologies like tablets and smart phones, making health information available electronically when and where it is needed. physicians and patients are both seeing the benefits that these new medical technologies are bringing. Health information technology provides healthcare providers by accurate and complete information about a patient 's health, which enable the providers to give the best possible care. It provides information to help diagnose health problems sooner, and reduce medical errors. Finally, and not last, HIT provides the secure way to share information with …show more content…
It is common in today’s world for patients to hold video conferences with physicians to save time and money normally spent on traveling to another geographic location or send health information promptly to any specialist or doctor in the world. Finally, Medical technologies like minimally-invasive surgeries, better monitoring systems, and more comfortable scanning equipment are allowing patients to spend less time in recovery and more time enjoying a healthy life. I chose health information technology profession because of many reasons first of all, I like working in the medical field especially with data and information. Second reason, Information technology now is the most popular career and the fastest growing industry in the world for that reason there is always a significant demand for highly-skilled workers. It has very low cost of education as compared to many other career choices. Finally, I think that Information Technology professionals are paid well, compared to other professionals. …show more content…

Providers are faced with having to weigh the expense of investing in telehealth technologies with the ability to generate enough revenue to cover these costs. This is often difficult as expenses in the literature can cover those directly linked with the delivery of care (healthcare costs) and those that are not directly related to providing care (non-heath care costs) (Bergmo, 2009). Some of the healthcare costs a practitioner must consider are items such as computers, video cameras, microphones, modems, routers, software and other components such as specialized stethoscopes and imaging equipment needed to assess an individual patient. The cost of these items can add up quickly. As one study estimates, the capital expenditure for the implementation of telehealth video conferencing can reach as much as $80,000. The cost of transmitting data in order to deliver these services can also reach $800-$2000 per month in spoke and hub type telehealth systems (Gamble, Savage, & Icenogle, 2004). These costs incur even more ...
Technological advances enable nurses to provide accurate, timely care for a patient. This is due to the fact that these advances enable doctors and nurses to quickly diagnose, explain and predict the health-illness status of a patient, thus allowing health care professionals to spend less time finding answers, and more time providing quality care. For nurses, this includes spending time with the patient establishing rapport, communication and a trusting relationship for optimum clinical care.
Using two-way interactive video conferencing can allow specialist provider’s access to their patients in rural communities without having to travel.

Are you about to go into surgery? We have an app for that! There are mobile phone applications, “apps”, available for nearly every aspect of your life, including your health. There are categories specifically dedicated to medicine in Google Play and Apple’s App Store. The apps include guides to anatomy, pharmaceuticals, and patient treatment. These apps can be downloaded by anyone, but there are apps dedicated to just professionals as well. Until recently, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) restricted radiologists from using mobile devices to view patient images. However, this year the FDA made the decision to approve a new radiological app that allows physicians to make diagnoses from images on a mobile device (Bolan, n.p.). This decision is just one of many that are paving the way for more apps in medicine. Health care is at a transitional point that, in 20 years, current technologies and social media, such as mobile apps and Skype, will be the standard information-sharing platforms used routinely by medical providers and caregivers.
I wanted to be in a healthcare profession where I know I could spend quality time with my patients, and be able to help them to improve their quality of life in all aspects. Occupational therapy was the perfect fit. I have found that occupational therapy, amongst others, is one of the most holistic health care professions and I am very proud to have chosen this as the career path to take. It is a profession that requires understanding, compassion, and sensitivity; all of the characteristics that I tremendously value . Occupational therapy is a career where there will certainly be much contribution to society and also bring enormous self-fulfillment.
The health industry has existed ever since doctors bartered for chickens to pay for their services. Computers on the other hand, in their modern form have only existed since the 1940s. So when did technology become a part of health care? The first electronic health record(EHR) programs were created in the 1960s around the same time the Kennedy administration started exploring the validity of such products (Neal, 2013). Between the 1960s and the current administration, there were little to no advancements in the area of EHR despite monumental advancements in software and hardware that are available. While some technology more directly related to care, such as digital radiology, have made strides medical record programs and practice management programs have gained little traction. Physicians have not had a reason or need for complicated, expensive health record suites. This all changed with the introduction of the Meaningful Use program introduced in 2011. Meaningful use is designed to encourage and eventually force the usage of EHR programs. In addition, it mandates basic requirements for EHR software manufactures that which have become fragmented in function and form. The result was in 2001 18 percent of offices used EHR as of 2013 78 percent are using EHR (Chun-Ju Hsiao, 2014). Now that you are caught up on some of the technology in health care let us discuss some major topics that have come up due to recent changes. First, what antiquated technologies is health care are still using, what new tech are they exploring, and then what security problems are we opening up and what is this all costing.
The career I have chose is Physical Therapy(PT). Physical Therapist do many different things, but their main function is to help impaired or physically disabled people enhance their movement and handle their pain. Physical Therapist are a main source in the rehabilitation, medical care and prevention of people with long lasting illnesses or damage. The reason I chose this career is because I love helping people and enjoy seeing people be motivated and succeed at their task. To help someone gain full strength in their limbs or maybe even learn how to walk again is my lifelong dream. It is important to understand the education or training requirements, skills or talents needed, salary and benefits offered, and the duties for a particular career
Health information management involves the practice of maintaining and taking care of health records in hospitals, health insurance companies and other health institutions, by the use of electronic means (McWay 176). Storage of medical information is carried out by health information management and HIT professionals using information systems that suit the needs of these institutions. This paper answers four major questions concerning health information systems.
Our clinical knowledge is expanding. The researcher has first proposed the concept of electronic health record (EHR) to gather and analyze every clinical outcome. By late 1990s computer-based patient record (CPR) replaced with the term EHR (Wager et al., 2009). The process of implementing EHR occurs over a number of years. An electronic record of health-related information on individual conforms interoperability standards can create, manage and consult with the authorized health professionals (Wager et al., 2009). This information technology system electronically gather and store patient data, and supply that information as needed to the healthcare professionals, as well as a caregiver can also access, edit or input new information; this system function as a decision support tools to the health professionals. Every healthcare organization is increasingly aware of the importance of adopting EHR to improve the patient satisfaction, safety, and lowering the medical costs.

With the help of telehealth and telenursing, overall healthcare costs can be reduced, especially for those patients
Choosing a career is one of the most important decisions a person has to make in their life. It is so important because that is what we will have to do to support ourselves throughout life. Imagine being stuck in a dead end job and having to go to work every morning and dreading it. That is no spending oneÕs time and life is too short to work 35 years and be unhappy with it. If a person likes the job they do then it is not work, because finding satisfaction out of a job can bring great happiness. That information has enabled me to make the decision of choosing my area of study and career in the field of Information Technology.
Technology has revolutionized the medical field, bringing it into the future and saving lives around the world. Better communications from doctors, online medical health records and new life saving technology has increased how quickly a doctor diagnoses patients and the communicative relationship between doctors and patients. Despite others claiming that using technology is dangerous to patient privacy, special has actually made medical technology very secure and safe. It has also increased communication between doctors around the world, helping with difficult diagnoses and finding cures together. Technology within medical practices has enhanced the field due to quicker diagnoses with new software programs, which has helped reduce the spread of rare diseases, as well as given patients and doctors quick access to records and generally has improved the care hospitals can give, as well as its efficiency.
From state and federal levels, the healthcare industry has come a very long way, experiencing changes along the way. The development of advanced technology that has enhanced the quality of healthcare delivery systems will help all patients to be able to benefit. Doctors are able to access patient records at a faster rate and respond to their patients in a much more timely fashion. E-mail, electronic transfer of records and telemedicine will give all patients and physicians the tools needed to be more efficient, deliver quality care and deliver quality telecommunication at a faster pace than before.
