Introduction
The main focus of this report will be a chosen community. The community will be explored as will some selected institutions such as hospitals, doctors, schools and nurseries focusing on the education system alongside crime rates, gaps in the health care services and discussing the local authorities. Using the census and reliable statistics. In addition to the above an organisation located in Banbury shall be examined and investigated, looking into what the organisation is all about, how they operate and key themes which occur within the organisation. Also covering the context of the organisation, any issues of concern, organisational structure and service users. This will be achieved through research and an interview with a member of staff.
Introduction to Banbury
Banbury will be the location discussed due to Oxfordshire as a whole being too big and therefore too diverse. Banbury is a small town in Oxfordshire, known for having the world's largest coffee-processing factory. Banbury is ever changing and is home to a wide variety of people whose cultures and beliefs are expressed and celebrated throughout the community. Tourist attractions such as The Banbury Cross, Banbury Museum, Spiceball Park and The Castle Quay Shopping Centre are all located in the centre of Banbury.
Banbury is just 2 miles south of the Midlands boarder however, there are ongoing debates if Banbury is part of the Midlands in fact or the South East. The local papers The Banbury Cake and The Banbury Guardian keep the residents of Banbury in the know and up to date with everything Banbury.

Community is defined as a group a people living in an area under the same conditions. Realistically, a community is so much more than this definition. It is people and their different beliefs that form a community. In the town of Milagro, Amarante Cordova, Ruby Archuleta, and a town coming together to rescue a fellow community member from jail exemplify the true spirit of what community is.

If a crime is portrayed as ‘out of control’ or perceived as ‘dangerous’ to a community through the media, it could create social repercussions, such as isolation of consumers who believe that their community is in a high-crime or high-violence area. Statistics recorded from the Australian Institute of Criminology confirms property crime, such as break and enter, burglary, vehicle theft and shoplifting are continually being reported at a higher rate than violent crime (Media portrayals of crime, 2000). In 2013 alone, there were approximately 739,317 property offences in total (homicide incidents, 2017). Therefore, the increase in property offences in society was the highest recorded in 2013, compared to violent crimes that are decreasing in a total of 151,714 in the same reviewed period. In addition, this evidence shows that the majority of crime in our society is not of a violent nature.

In general, official statistics of crime recorded by the police and surveys of the public such as victim surveys and self-report studies are the three main measures of the extent of crime in Britain. The oldest method is to rely on official data collected by criminal justice agencies, such as data on arrests or convictions. The other two rely on social surveys. A community is where a group of people live in the same place and at times share things in common. Today there are different types of communities such as traditional and modern. An example of a traditional community today is an Amish community. There are two types of communities which are discussed in the film The Village. The two types that are seen are Gemeinschaft which is similar to a traditional community and Gesellschaft is similar to a modern community.
How would someone define the word community? A community could be anything. If one were to listen to an everyday conservation, the word community, would probably be used very little. The word community has multiple meanings, ranging from communist or socialistic society (Emerson) to the quality of appertaining to or being held by all in common (Oxford).
A Community can be defined as a group of people who don’t just live in the same area, but also share the same interests, experiences and often concerns about the area in which they live. Often when individuals have lived on a street or in an area for a while they become familiar with each other and the issues surrounding them. Children often attend the same schools and grow up together, again sharing similar experiences. In some instances adults may work together, and quite commonly all community members will share the same doctors, dentists, hospitals, health visitors and other public services and facilities.
