Proactive arrest and sentencing policies have lead to an increase of the overwhelming number of spousal batters that the criminal justice system process. Scarce correctional and treatment resources necessitate that difficult decisions be made about the management of domestic violence perpetrators. Much effort was put in to making better decisions, for instance many jurisdictions have now do risk assessment approach, this is where the risk assessment serves to inform those making decisions about sentencing, treatment placement and supervision intensity such as the community release vs incarceration with further research,researchers and clinicians are starting to discuss the best and appropriate content and process of spousal assault risk assessment. Domestic violence is the physical and emotion abuse in a relationship and it touches each area of society, it doesn’t take into account class, race, religion, culture or wealth, it can happen to anyone a rich wealthy woman is just as likely to be abused as a working class mother who lives in a poor estate . Domestic violence is causing issues economically for societies , London spent a minimum of £278 million every year responding to domestic violence and that doesn’t include medical and legal costs. Some victims of domestic violence tend to miss out of going to work causing problems economically. Also in some cases when children are involved and witness their parent being battered they tend to grow into juvenile delinquents or become anti social.
